About the drama series “The Emperor – No Place, No Time”

The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the statement issued by the Caesar Families Association on February 18, 2026, which expresses its categorical rejection of the aforementioned Ramadan series, considering it an exploitation of the suffering of victims and the forcibly disappeared.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that its unwavering priority remains building a free, unified, and independent Syria, based on comprehensive political, economic, and social reform, and strengthening civil peace and national reconciliation, far removed from any form of tyranny, discrimination, or exclusion, in accordance with its national vision that places the interest and dignity of the Syrian people above all else.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the issue of victims, detainees, and the forcibly disappeared, as documented in the Caesar photos and the testimonies of survivors, represents a deep wound in the collective Syrian memory.

Thousands of families are still waiting for the full truth to be revealed, the fate of their loved ones to be determined, and the remains to be returned with dignity, in addition to holding those responsible for the grave violations accountable within the framework of a comprehensive and fair transitional justice process that includes reparations, institutional reform, and prevention of recurrence.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for respecting the dignity of the victims and their families as a sacred national principle that cannot be violated. It rejects any exploitation of their suffering in commercial or entertainment contexts that could be interpreted as commodifying pain or ignoring wounds that have not yet healed, especially given the continued failure to close the files of the missing and detained.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that any artistic or dramatic work addressing these tragedies must adhere to strict ethical and national standards, prioritizing the interests of the victims and their authentic voices. It must genuinely contribute to strengthening historical awareness and national reconciliation, rather than inciting division or causing further offense. Furthermore, it must ensure that no individuals who have previously expressed positions inconsistent with the suffering of the Syrian people are involved.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on the production and distribution entities to seriously reconsider the timing and broadcast of this work, or to amend it in a way that avoids further harming the families’ suffering. It also urges them to open a direct and transparent dialogue with the Caesar Families Association and representatives of the victims to hear their demands and incorporate them into any decisions made, reflecting the spirit of national partnership that the Movement advocates.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that drama can be an effective tool for raising awareness and remembering the painful past, but it becomes harmful when it overshadows the path of transitional justice and truth, or ignores the voices of those with a fundamental right to justice.

Therefore, we hope that the voices of bereaved families will be respected, and that priority will be given to uncovering the truth, providing reparations, and achieving comprehensive justice before any media or artistic production.
