Legal Office

It is the body responsible for monitoring and promoting human rights, the rule of law, and justice in accordance with the principles of the Syrian Future Movement and relevant national and international standards. It works to protect rights and public freedoms, monitor violations, and contribute to consolidating the values ​​of justice, equality, and citizenship.

The tasks of the Human Rights Office include:

– Monitoring and documenting violations of human rights and public freedoms.

– Preparing studies, reports, and legal and human rights papers.

– Following up on cases of detainees, missing persons, the forcibly disappeared, and victims of violations.

– Preparing human rights files and submitting them to the competent authorities in accordance with legal procedures.

– Providing legal and human rights advice and support within available resources.

– Contributing to the dissemination of a culture of human rights, citizenship, and the rule of law.

– Promoting the principles of justice, equality, and non-discrimination.

– Supporting transitional justice efforts, accountability, truth-seeking, and reparations.

– Monitoring legislation and laws and proposing necessary reforms and human rights recommendations.

– Preparing positions and recommendations related to national and international human rights issues. – Building cooperative and partnership relationships with local, regional, and international human rights organizations and bodies.

– Organizing advocacy, awareness, and defense campaigns for just human rights causes.

– Qualifying and training personnel in the fields of human rights and international humanitarian law.

– Monitoring the conditions of the most vulnerable groups and working to highlight their issues and rights.

– Contributing to the development and improvement of the movement’s human rights policies.

– Supporting the movement’s institutions’ commitment to human rights principles and standards of transparency and accountability.

The role of the Human Rights Office is manifested through the activities of the office director and staff in monitoring, documentation, legal and human rights follow-up, issuing statements, reports, and specialized studies, organizing advocacy and awareness campaigns, and communicating with various human rights bodies and organizations. This contributes to protecting rights and freedoms and consolidating the values ​​of justice and the rule of law, in line with the movement’s vision and strategic principles.
