Justice for the victims of the Jaramana bombing

The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the statement issued by the Syrian Network for Human Rights, on Monday, August 10, 2026, which called on the Syrian government to open an urgent, independent, impartial, and effective criminal investigation into the explosion of the explosive device that targeted a civilian passenger bus at the Rawda Junction in the city of Jaramana, on the evening of Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The Syrian Future Movement declares its full support for the network’s demands, and highly appreciates its role in following up on human rights violations in Syria, as it is an important voice for victims and a window to truth and justice.
The Syrian Future Movement also condemns in the strongest terms this cowardly terrorist act that targeted innocent civilians on public transportation, and resulted in the death of a woman and the injury of 13 others, including three very serious injuries.
The Syrian Future Movement expresses its full solidarity with the victims of this attack and their families, and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded.

The Syrian Future Movement stresses that targeting civilians in their residential areas and on public transportation is a war crime under international humanitarian law, and a flagrant violation of the right to life guaranteed under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
We believe that revealing the circumstances of this crime and determining individual responsibilities is a national and moral duty that cannot be neglected.

In this context, the Syrian Future Movement recalls its firm positions published on its official website, which emphasize the priority of protecting human rights and ensuring fair trials:

• Statement on “The Crime of Child Nour in Daraa” (dated August 2, 2026): in which he called for ensuring a fair and transparent trial in cases of violence, and stressed the importance of strengthening monitoring and early intervention mechanisms to protect the most vulnerable groups.
• Statement on “Inheritance Crime in Salqin” (dated August 1, 2026): In it, he called for the establishment of centers for family reform and community reconciliation, and stressed the importance of strengthening legal protection mechanisms for victims.

Based on its national responsibility to protect human rights, the Syrian Future Movement declares its full support for the following demands raised by the Syrian Network for Human Rights, and calls on the Syrian government to:

1. Open an urgent, independent, impartial, and effective criminal investigation into the Jaramana bombing, which will preserve physical and digital evidence, protect witnesses, and determine individual responsibilities based on evidence that is subject to judicial review.
2. Conducting a careful technical analysis of the remnants of the explosive device to determine its components, the mechanism of detonation, and the sources of its parts, collecting the statements of the injured and witnesses within procedures that guarantee their protection, and reviewing the digital recordings and data available in legal frameworks.
3. Identify the individuals and entities involved in planning, carrying out, or assisting in the attack, and refer those found responsible to an independent judiciary, within trials that meet international standards for fair trial.
4. Providing medical care and psychological and social support to the injured and considering ways to support and compensate them in accordance with the law, in line with the obligations of the Syrian government under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
5. Detect any security or institutional gaps that contributed to the incident and take legitimate measures to protect public transportation and crowded civilian places, without imposing collective or discriminatory measures, and taking into account the principles of necessity, proportionality, and judicial oversight.
6. Informing public opinion periodically of the basic results of the investigation, while achieving a balance between the requirements of transparency and protecting the integrity of judicial procedures and witnesses, in a way that enhances citizens’ confidence in their state’s institutions.

Based on its national responsibility, the Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:

• Strengthening civilian protection mechanisms: in public transportation and crowded places, by developing surveillance systems, intensifying security patrols, and training cadres to deal with terrorist threats, taking into account international human rights standards.
• Developing criminal investigation capabilities: in the field of dealing with explosive devices and digital evidence, and benefiting from the technical support offered by the Syrian Network for Human Rights and other international bodies.
• Launching awareness campaigns for citizens: on how to report suspicious activities, and providing safe channels for reporting, while ensuring the protection of whistleblowers.
• Strengthening community oversight: by involving civil society organizations in monitoring the implementation of security recommendations, and ensuring that security measures do not become a pretext for restricting public freedoms.

The Syrian Future Movement renews its strong condemnation of the terrorist bombing in Jaramana, and expresses its full solidarity with the families of the victims and the injured.
It is recalled that protecting human rights and combating terrorism are two sides of the same coin, which cannot be separated.
Justice for victims and holding perpetrators accountable is the most effective way to eradicate terrorism and prevent its recurrence.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the Syrian Network for Human Rights’ demand for an independent and impartial investigation is a legitimate demand that is in line with Syria’s international obligations, and with the aspirations of our people for a state that protects their rights and preserves their dignity.
The Syrian Future Movement will remain supportive of everything that promotes justice and the protection of human rights, criticizes everything that hinders their achievement, and monitors everything that is accomplished on the ground, seeking a new Syria in which the law prevails, and in which the security and rights of citizens are preserved.
