The Syrian Future Movement warmly welcomes and highly commends the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) for its comprehensive medical and surgical campaign in Homs Governorate, conducted from January 24 to 29, 2026, in coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Health. The campaign took place in hospitals and health centers such as Al-Qusayr Hospital, Al-Rastan Health Center, and Al-Bir Hospital.
The Syrian Future Movement views this campaign as a shining example of effective humanitarian cooperation. It provided specialized medical services, including examinations, consultations, treatments, general surgeries, and advanced cardiac services such as cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, electrocardiography, and cardiology clinics. Preparations were also made for a future cerebral catheterization project.
A team of volunteer physicians from various specialties (cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, laboratory medicine, and pathology) of different nationalities participated in the campaign, reflecting international solidarity with the Syrian people during this reconstruction phase.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that such humanitarian medical initiatives are a cornerstone in rebuilding the Syrian social fabric, especially in light of the health challenges left by years of conflict. These initiatives contribute to strengthening the values of peaceful coexistence by providing healthcare to all citizens without discrimination, thus rebuilding trust among different groups and reaffirming that health is a shared human right that transcends differences.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the interim government and relevant authorities to strengthen and expand such partnerships and proposes the following recommendations to maximize the benefits of this campaign and make it a sustainable model:
- Establishing joint follow-up committees between the Ministry of Health, civil society organizations, and national forces to evaluate the campaign’s results, document treated cases, and identify ongoing needs in Homs and other governorates.
- Developing joint training programs for local Syrian medical personnel with international volunteers to transfer expertise in advanced specialties such as cardiology and vascular interventions, thereby enhancing the self-reliance of the health sector.
- Establishing permanent specialized health centers in affected areas, utilizing support provided by organizations such as SAMS, with the allocation of transitional budgets for equipment maintenance and the provision of medications.
- Strengthening community health awareness through joint awareness campaigns focused on preventing heart disease and strokes, in cooperation with national media and local communities.
- Linking these efforts to the national reconciliation process by ensuring access to services for all regions and communities, to foster a sense of shared belonging and peaceful coexistence.
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its gratitude to the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) and all the volunteers and doctors who are making invaluable efforts in the service of humanity, and calls for increased international cooperation to support the Syrian health sector, which is the cornerstone of stability and sustainable development.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms its commitment to supporting every effort that contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people and building a strong, cohesive state that prioritizes the health of its citizens as a national priority.
