Al-Hol camp conference

The Syrian Future Movement is closely following the proceedings of the Al-Hawl Camp Conference, held on September 26, 2025, in New York, under the auspices of the Iraqi government and with the participation of representatives from the United Nations and a number of concerned countries and international organizations.
The Syrian Future Movement appreciates the efforts made at this conference to shed light on one of the most complex humanitarian and security issues in the Syrian conflict: the camps, which house thousands of women and children, including Syrian and foreign citizens, in inhumane conditions that threaten their future and the security of the entire region.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the following:

  1. Syrian Sovereignty First: Any resolution of the Al-Hawl Camp issue and other issues related to terrorism and extremism must be based on respect for Syrian sovereignty, far from any foreign agendas or attempts to perpetuate division or impose solutions from above.
  2. A National Solution Based on Justice: The Movement calls for the adoption of a comprehensive national approach that ensures accountability for perpetrators of crimes according to the law, respects the rights of victims, and establishes transitional justice that contributes to building societal trust.
  3. Rehabilitation, not marginalization: The movement believes that children and women in these camps are not just numbers, but victims of war and extremism. They must receive psychological, educational, and social rehabilitation programs that ensure their safe and humane integration into society.
  4. The role of the United Nations as an alternative partner: The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the role of the United Nations in coordinating international efforts, but emphasizes that solutions must be found in partnership with Syrian national forces, not imposed from outside.
  5. A call to concerned countries to assume their responsibilities: The Syrian Future Movement calls on the countries to which those detained in the camps belong, especially those holding foreign nationalities, to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities towards their citizens, and not leave them in a state of oblivion or political exploitation.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the al-Hawl camp conference should be a starting point for a radical solution to this issue, free from security or political exploitation, while ensuring the dignity of the Syrian people and protecting the future of future generations from the cycle of extremism and violence.
