On This Day in 2011: The province of Al-Hasakah witnessed demonstrations on the second day of the “Week of Revolutionary Escalation,” including cities and towns such as Al-Shaddadi, Al-Malikiyah, and Amuda. Student demonstrations took place in Al-Shaddadi, where participants chanted slogans supporting the uprising cities in Syria, including the chant: “The Syrian raises their hand… Bashar, we don’t want him.” Protesters carried revolutionary flags and Kurdish flags, and in Al-Malikiyah, they held banners, one of which read: “We demand a pluralistic federal state that constitutionally recognizes the Kurdish people.
