The Syrian Future Movement expresses its strongest condemnation and categorical denunciation of the airstrikes carried out by the Jordanian Air Force on the evening of Monday, October 26, 2026, against civilian sites in the countryside of Daraa Governorate. The strikes targeted a residential tent in the village of Al-Taf, in the Lajat region, as well as locations in the vicinity of Nasib and Al-Muzayrib. These attacks resulted in the martyrdom of seven innocent civilians—including three children, a woman, and elderly individuals—and left three others wounded.
We pray for the souls of the martyrs, asking God to encompass them in His vast mercy, to grant patience and solace to their families, and to bestow a swift recovery upon the wounded.
The Syrian Future Movement asserts that the shedding of this innocent blood serves as a bitter reminder of the era of lawlessness and impunity that the Syrian people endured for so long under the former regime—an era that we are firmly committed to ending, once and for all, following our liberation. We strive to ensure that no Syrian citizen remains an easy target or a victim of decisions made outside the framework of national sovereignty and human dignity.
While the Syrian Future Movement categorically rejects any violation of Syrian airspace or national sovereignty, we must also clearly express our profound reservations regarding how the transitional government has handled this incident.
The official response was lackluster and fell short of the necessary level of firmness and political or diplomatic escalation required to protect the lives and dignity of the Syrian people.
The role of the transitional government must be that of a genuine protector for all members of the nation. Accordingly, the Syrian Future Movement demands the following:
- The transitional government must call for an independent, exclusively Arab-led investigation into the circumstances of the airstrikes and the reasons for the civilian casualties, free from any non-Arab interference.
- A clear and direct formal apology from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Syrian people and the families of the martyrs.
- Full reparation and fair compensation for the families of the victims and the injured, as well as for those whose homes and property have been damaged.
- The urgent establishment of a clear and binding border and security coordination protocol between the two countries to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
At the same time, the Syrian Future Movement affirms that the relationship between Syria and Jordan must remain a steadfast, fraternal bond—rooted in shared Arab and Islamic identity, common borders, and interconnected interests—reflecting the reality that the two peoples are one, sharing the same origins and destiny.
We reject any attempt to use such an incident as a pretext to sow discord or undermine these deep, historical ties.
In voicing the sentiments and legitimate outrage of the Syrian public, the Syrian Future Movement reiterates its commitment to exert consistent and objective pressure on the transitional government to fulfill its full responsibilities in safeguarding the security of its citizens and the sovereignty of the state, and to prioritize the dignity and lives of Syrians above all political or diplomatic considerations.
