World First Aid Day

The Syrian Future Movement highlights the humanitarian and international dimensions of World First Aid Day, observed annually on July 8th. This day was officially launched in 2022 to commemorate the birth of military physician Dominique Jean Larry, founder of the modern ambulance system, with the aim of honoring first responders and recognizing their immense sacrifices in saving lives.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the exceptional importance of this year’s theme, “Innovation and Integration,” launched by international medical colleges and organizations. This theme focuses on integrating modern digital technologies and smart systems into emergency care to enhance the efficiency of medical response and reduce mortality rates during acute crises.

The Syrian Future Movement extends its deepest respect and pride to all Syrian emergency personnel, especially the heroes of the Syrian Civil Defense (White Helmets) and other medical aid organizations. It remembers the legendary sacrifices of the Syrian ambulance sector, which has suffered hundreds of martyrs and injuries throughout the years of war due to the systematic targeting of facilities and ambulances.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that protecting and developing the ambulance system is an indispensable pillar of sovereignty and public health during the transitional phase. We emphasize that social and political stability cannot be achieved without ensuring a safe legal and field working environment for paramedics, guaranteeing their complete neutrality in conflicts and their protection under international humanitarian law.

The Syrian Future Movement recommends adopting a modern, progressive national strategy to restructure the ambulance and emergency sector in the future Syria. This strategy should link the sector to sustainable development programs and indicators, digitize ambulance services, and train young personnel according to the latest international standards, while providing ongoing psychological and social support to these vital workers.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that building the modern Syria it aspires to and is dedicated to is based on strengthening human resources and supporting vital institutions. Developing emergency healthcare and ensuring the safety of its personnel will remain at the forefront of the Syrian Future Movement’s political and developmental vision.
