Laylat al-Qadr is a night of peace and mercy.

In these blessed nights of the holy month of Ramadan, when the Quran is revealed and the angels and the Spirit descend by their Lord’s permission for every matter, the Syrian Future Movement recalls the profound significance of Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree), which God has declared “better than a thousand months,” and a night of peace until the break of dawn.

It is the night in which the values of mercy, forgiveness, and deliverance from Hellfire are manifested, and in which destinies are written and deeds are raised.

The Syrian Future Movement draws profound lessons from this blessed night in building the individual and society. Just as Laylat al-Qadr embodies divine peace and the tranquility bestowed by the angels upon the believers, the new Syria we aspire to together requires a comprehensive national peace that reassures every citizen, regardless of their identity, region, or sect.

Based on its vision that combines religious and national principles, the Syrian Future Movement affirms that the values that purify souls on this great night—such as forgiveness, tolerance, truthfulness, and benevolence—are the very values that rebuild nations after wars and destruction. The experiences of nations emerging from conflict, such as South Africa, Rwanda, and Bosnia, have demonstrated that virtue and national reconciliation are the only path to restoring social cohesion and building a stable future.

The Syrian Future Movement, through its Religious Office dedicated to promoting religious awareness based on tolerance and coexistence, recognizes that true national reconciliation begins in the hearts of people before it reaches institutions, and that forgiveness when one has the power to retaliate is the character of prophets and the way of the righteous. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that the best supplication on this night is: “O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me.” This supplication carries a profound message for all of Syrian society: to embrace forgiveness and pardon one another, to leave grudges behind, and to build a homeland that embraces everyone.

The Syrian Future Movement calls upon the Syrian people during these blessed nights to:

  • Supplicate to God that security and peace may prevail throughout Syria, and that He may unite the Syrian people and bring them together.
  • Let us embrace compassion and forgiveness towards one another, forgive past offenses, and begin anew with a pristine, unblemished page befitting Syria, a land of civilization and history.
  • Let us pray for mercy and forgiveness for the martyrs, for a swift recovery for the wounded, for the return of the missing to their families, and for the safe and dignified return of the displaced to their homes.
  • Let us reflect upon the blessing of security and stability, which we all yearn for, and let each of us work, from our respective positions, to achieve it through the values of truth, justice, and equality brought by our noble religion.

The Syrian Future Movement concludes its statement by affirming that Syria, known since the dawn of Islam as the “cradle of civilizations and the meeting place of religions,” is capable today, as it has been throughout its history, of being a model of coexistence and human fraternity, if its people adhere to the noble values that abound during the blessed Nights of Power.

We pray during these blessed nights that God accepts our fasting and prayers, and that He brings back such days to Syria and its people with goodness, prosperity, and blessings, and that He makes them the beginning of a new dawn shining upon a unified and stable homeland where all enjoy security, peace, and dignity.

“Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” [Al-Qadr: 5]
