Syrian Future Movement is following with great seriousness and concern the developments of the case related to the arrest of former ministers Kinda Al-Shimat and Rima Al-Qadiri on Thursday 2025/07/03, along with three former officials of welfare institutions, against the backdrop of suspicions related to grave violations against unaccounted-for children from families of detainees and forcibly disappeared persons.
According to Syrian Future Movement, the forgery of official documents, the alteration of children’s legal identities and the concealment of their personal data reflect the work of an institutionalized system to obliterate family identities within an illegal framework tainted by collusion with the security services of the former regime and local and international partners.
Syrian Future Movement considers that these practices constitute a humanitarian crime that goes beyond the individual violation and touches the essence of the Syrian identity and the future of young generations, and confirms the entrenched mechanisms of tyranny of the former regime, which was not limited to political repression, but extended to re-engineering the social and familial fabric of the Syrian people.
Syrian Future Movement calls for an independent and transparent investigation, with the participation of Syrian human rights defenders and credible international organizations, to uncover the full truth and hold those involved accountable without politicization or exclusion.
Syrian Future Movement calls for the launch of a national process to restore the legal identities of affected children and reunite them with their original families, in accordance with transitional justice mechanisms and legal protection guarantees.
Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the need to reform the social welfare system in Syria, free it from security control, and ensure that it is subject to civilian oversight, so that it can be a safe space that promotes protection rather than abuse.
Syrian Future Movement draws attention to the importance of providing psychosocial support to child victims, ensuring that they regain their dignity, self-confidence, and reintegration into society in accordance with the conditions of human justice.
Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the case at hand is not an isolated incident, but rather a sign of a deep structural distortion in the structure of the Syrian state created by the former regime, which requires responsible action by national, civil and human rights forces to remedy the consequences of this pattern of violations, achieve justice and restore identity.
