Statement on the Occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

The United Nations General Assembly designated November 25th as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, through resolution number (54/134), to raise awareness about the extent of problems faced by women worldwide, such as rape and violence in all its various forms.
In 1993, the United Nations defined violence against women in the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women as: ‘Any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.’

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the war Syrians have lived through over these years has increased the rate of violence against women.
In the Family Affairs Office of the Research and Studies Department at the Syrian Future Movement, we conducted a study titled ‘Violence and Abuse Against Syrian Women.
