The Syrian Future Movement is following with grave concern the criminal bombing that targeted the city of Jaramana yesterday, August 6, 2026, and the resulting casualties and injuries among innocent civilians. It expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that this attack cannot be viewed in isolation from the sensitive national circumstances Syria is currently experiencing, particularly in light of the tensions witnessed in the Suwaida Governorate and Jabal al-Arab region recently, and the accompanying attempts to undermine trust between the various components of the Syrian people and the new state.
Jaramana is not merely a city on the outskirts of Damascus; it represents a national model of Syrian diversity and coexistence among its residents. Any attack on its security or stability must be interpreted as an attack on civil peace and an attempt to create a new rift in the national fabric.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that numerous parties benefit from the continued tension and division, seeking to cultivate an image of hostility between the new Syrian state and our Druze community. They do this by exploiting every security or political incident to fuel suspicion, deepen the rift, and push the country toward further polarization. Such attempts serve only the enemies of Syria’s stability and unity, regardless of who is behind them.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that our Druze community has always been and remains an integral part of the Syrian people and partners in building the state. No extremist rhetoric, separatist agenda, or incitement campaign should be allowed to usurp this history or tamper with this deeply rooted national relationship.
We also emphasize that the state’s responsibility lies in protecting all citizens without discrimination, extending security and the rule of law throughout all Syrian territory, and prosecuting all those proven to be involved in acts of terrorism, incitement, or fomenting sedition, within the framework of justice and the rule of law, without generalization or holding any social group responsible for the actions of individuals or groups.
The Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:
- Expediting the investigation into the bombing and transparently announcing the results to the public.
- Strengthening security and intelligence measures in Jaramana and its surrounding areas, while respecting the city’s unique social and national character.
- Intensifying direct communication between state institutions and religious, social, and civic organizations in Jaramana and Suwaida, to bolster trust and prevent the exploitation of any power vacuum.
- Firmly confronting hate speech, incitement, and separatism, regardless of their source, and preventing political differences from escalating into societal conflicts.
- Launching national initiatives that affirm the unity of Syrians and emphasize that religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity is a source of strength for the state, not a pretext for its division.
- Supporting the families of the victims and the injured, and compensating them in a manner befitting their rights and dignity.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the strongest response to terrorism and sedition is to establish a state based on citizenship and justice, strengthen mutual trust between the state and all components of the Syrian people, and thwart any project that seeks to tear apart the unity of the nation or sow discord among its citizens.
