The Syrian Future Movement follows with deep condemnation and concern the latest attacks launched by the Israeli occupation forces against Syrian territory. These attacks included the shelling of the village of Abdeen in the western Daraa countryside with artillery and heavy machine guns on the evening of Sunday, June 28, 2026. This coincided with intensive overflights by Israeli warplanes over the Quneitra and Daraa countrysides. This aggression resulted in the displacement of a number of the village’s residents towards neighboring villages, a scene that is repeated in an escalating series of violations of national sovereignty and international law.
The Syrian Future Movement strongly condemns these repeated Israeli attacks and holds the occupation forces fully responsible for their humanitarian and security repercussions.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that targeting the village of Abdeen with artillery and heavy machine guns, and the resulting terrorizing of civilians and displacement of residents, constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The Syrian Future Movement holds the occupying forces fully responsible for this crime and for all the resulting human suffering and destabilization in the region.
We condemn the continuation of this systematic policy, which aims to spread terror among the population and impose a new reality of occupation in southern Syria, amidst complete international silence and suspicious complicity from the international community.
The Syrian Future Movement recalls the broader context of these violations, emphasizing that they are not isolated incidents, but rather a new chapter in a systematic Israeli policy that began with the very first days of Syria’s liberation.
The Syrian Future Movement reminds everyone that these attacks are not a spontaneous occurrence, but rather part of an escalating series of violations that began on December 8, 2014, when the occupying forces crossed the 1974 ceasefire line and occupied the buffer zone and additional areas in the Quneitra and Daraa countryside.
Since that date, at least 620 Israeli ground incursions into Syrian territory have been documented, along with approximately 500 airstrikes and the establishment of nine military bases in southern Syria.
We also note that yesterday’s attacks on the village of Abdeen coincide with massive settlement plans, most notably the $334 million expansion plan for the Katzrin settlement in the occupied Golan Heights, which Human Rights Watch described as “a clear declaration of intent to commit war crimes.”
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its firm and consistent positions in defending national sovereignty, as expressed in its previous statements published on its official website, including:
- The statement “Israeli Attacks on Syria” (dated December 10, 2024), which considered Israeli statements regarding the collapse of the 1974 treaty a “grave mistake” and affirmed that Syrians would not hesitate to defend their land.
- The statement “Israeli Aggression Against Syrian National Sovereignty” (dated July 16, 2025), which condemned the blatant aggression and the targeting of civilians.
- A statement on “Israeli Incursions into Daraa and Quneitra” (dated March 17, 2026) documented 28 incursions, deeming them a daily policy of spreading terror and forcing residents to flee.
- A statement on “Israeli Military Movements in Tel al-Ahmar al-Sharqi” (dated April 19, 2026) condemned the establishment of new military fortifications deep inside Syrian territory.
- A statement on “Israeli Incursions and the Abduction of a Civilian from the Village of Umm al-Adham” (dated April 26, 2026) condemned the abduction of civilians and demanded their release.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the necessity of adopting a unified national and international stance to halt these violations and presents a set of practical recommendations.
Based on its national responsibility, the Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:
- Submitting an urgent official protest to the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General, exposing the violations of the Israeli occupation, demanding international monitoring mechanisms for the ceasefire, and reactivating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement in a manner that guarantees the non-recurrence of such violations.
- Convening an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers to discuss the dangerous Israeli escalation in southern Syria and adopting a unified Arab position that supports Syrian sovereignty and confronts Israeli plans to impose a new reality of occupation.
- Sending an international fact-finding mission to the region to document Israeli violations and submit a report to the Security Council, while activating international accountability mechanisms and moving beyond mere verbal condemnation, which has become ineffective.
- Unifying the national position in the face of the Israeli escalation, overcoming internal differences, and rallying behind clear and non-negotiable demands: full sovereignty over every inch of Syrian territory and the rejection of any foreign military presence.
In conclusion, the Syrian Future Movement reiterates its absolute solidarity with the people of Quneitra, Daraa, and the occupied Syrian Golan, and commends their legendary steadfastness in the face of the brutal occupation machine.
It also emphasizes that these attacks will only strengthen the Syrian people’s resolve to fully reclaim their rights, and that the time has come to seize those rights, not merely wait for them.
We believe that the Syrian government and the international community are called upon today to shoulder their responsibilities and take decisive and immediate measures to put an end to this aggressive policy, compel Israel to withdraw from the occupied Syrian territories, and abide by international law.
