Israeli incursions and the abduction of a civilian from the village of Umm al-Adham in the Quneitra countryside

The Syrian Future Movement followed with grave concern and condemnation the incursion of Israeli occupation forces into the village of Umm al-Adham, north of Quneitra Governorate, on Friday, April 24, 2026. During the incursion, a force comprised of several military vehicles raided civilian homes and abducted a resident without explanation, in flagrant violation of international laws and norms.

This was followed on Saturday, April 25, 2026, by renewed incursions on several axes in the Quneitra countryside.

The Syrian Future Movement condemns the entry of an Israeli force, comprised of several military vehicles, into the village of Umm al-Adham in the northern Quneitra countryside. The force conducted raids and searches of civilian homes before arresting a resident and taking him to an unknown location. On the same day, occupation forces also infiltrated the villages of al-Muallaqa and al-Hayran in the southern Quneitra countryside before withdrawing. The following day, the Israeli army renewed its incursions on several axes and brought in equipment to reinforce its fortifications at Tell al-Ahmar al-Sharqi, amidst intensive overflights by warplanes. The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the recent events in Umm al-Adham were not spontaneous, but rather part of a systematic Israeli policy that began with the first days of Syria’s liberation from the Assad regime on December 8, 2014.

With the announcement of the regime’s collapse, Israeli occupation forces crossed the 1974 ceasefire line, occupying the buffer zone and additional areas in the Quneitra and Daraa countryside.

Between December 2014 and April 2016, the occupation army established nine permanent military bases in southern Syria, deploying across 235 square kilometers within the buffer zone. More than 800 incursions were documented, bringing them within 20 kilometers of Damascus.

As for direct ground incursions into villages and towns, these have increased dramatically since mid-February 2026, with at least 28 such incursions documented up to mid-March 2026, and at least 17 civilians detained.

The Syrian Future Movement cites a report by the research and consulting firm SARI Global, published on the UN website, indicating that the Israeli presence in southern Syria is not limited to small-scale strikes, but rather constitutes a coercive security structure aimed at managing an unstable front.

The report documented 897 incidents attributed to the Israeli occupation, including 123 incidents during March 2026, compared to 91 in January and 97 in February, reflecting a clear escalation in violations. According to a briefing by the UN Deputy Special Envoy, Claudio Cordone, to the Security Council, Israeli helicopter and drone operations in Syrian airspace have increased, and Israeli airstrikes have killed civilians and displaced hundreds within Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its previous positions, which we have published on our official website, most notably:

  • The statement “Israeli Aggression Against Syria” (dated December 10, 2024), in which we affirmed that Syrians will not hesitate to defend their land against any Israeli ground aggression that crosses red lines, despite our immense suffering.
  • The statement “Israeli Aggression Against Syrian National Sovereignty” (dated July 16, 2025), in which the Syrian Future Movement condemned the blatant Israeli aggression that targeted state institutions and civilian and military facilities, and stressed the criminal nature of these violations against civilians.
  • Statement on “Israeli Incursions into Daraa and Quneitra” (dated March 17, 2026), in which we observed a systematic escalation in violations, represented by the incursion of 24 heavy military vehicles, supported by detailed field testimonies.
  • Statement on “Israeli Military Movements in Tel al-Ahmar al-Sharqi” (dated April 19, 2026), in which we expressed our deep concern and condemnation of the introduction of bulldozers and prefabricated structures with the aim of establishing a new military post. We viewed this as a consolidation of the Israeli presence deep inside Syrian territory and a blatant violation of national sovereignty.

Based on the above, the Syrian Future Movement declares the following:

  • Condemnation and Denunciation: We condemn in the strongest terms the crime of incursion and abduction in the village of Umm al-Adham, and consider it a war crime.
  • We also condemn the systematic Israeli escalation policy practiced daily in southern Syria through incursions, shelling, violation of the sanctity of homes, and terrorizing of civilians.
  • We are following up on the case of the citizen abducted from Umm al-Adham, stemming from our national responsibility. We demand that the relevant Syrian authorities exert maximum diplomatic and legal efforts to secure his immediate release. We are also monitoring the fate of at least 17 Syrian detainees who remain in the occupation’s prisons.
  • We call upon the Syrian government to fulfill its duties in protecting national sovereignty by taking practical and effective measures to deter these daily violations and to strengthen the Syrian Arab Army’s defensive capabilities in the face of security challenges.
  • We hold the international community fully responsible for the continuation of these violations and call upon the Security Council to convene an emergency session and take decisive and immediate measures to put an end to Israeli aggression and ensure withdrawal from the occupied territories in accordance with international resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 497.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that Syria’s right to defend its land and sovereignty is guaranteed by international law. We believe that the will of the Syrian people will not be broken, and that national unity will liberate every inch of Syrian soil.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the Israeli aggression, which reached its peak immediately after the fall of the Assad regime, aims to thwart the transitional process in Syria and perpetuate instability in the region.

Therefore, the Syrian Future Movement will continue to expose these schemes and will exert pressure (through its independent stance) to strengthen the internal front in order to confront this existential threat and ensure the establishment of a new Syria as a fully sovereign and independent state capable of protecting its people and its land.

In conclusion, the Syrian Future Movement reiterates its absolute solidarity with the people of Quneitra, Daraa, and the occupied Syrian Golan, and commends their legendary steadfastness.

In the face of the brutal occupation machine.

The Syrian Future Movement reaffirms its commitment that the Golan issue will remain present in every national and international forum, and that the Syrian popular resistance is the most effective weapon to thwart all the occupation’s plans.
