The Syrian Future Movement affirms its unwavering commitment to supporting a comprehensive and transparent political transition process that guarantees genuine representation for all components of the Syrian people and reflects the aspirations of the Syrian revolution to build a pluralistic, civil state, free from exclusion or marginalization of any segment that participated in the struggle against tyranny.
The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the statement issued today, March 11, 2026, by the “Revolutionary League in Raqqa,” which announced its rejection of the parliamentary elections scheduled for Raqqa Governorate. The statement noted the inclusion of candidates who do not represent the aspirations of the people and the exclusion of “free revolutionaries known for their revolutionary work,” in addition to observations regarding the electoral mechanism, the surrounding political and administrative circumstances, and the extent to which the process represents the various segments of society.
The Syrian Future Movement views this situation as a legitimate expression of widespread concerns among revolutionaries and activists in Raqqa and other areas, especially given reports of over 50 members withdrawing from the electoral body in protest against the selection mechanism and its lack of transparency and integrity. They also cite the exclusion of significant revolutionary blocs in favor of figures with ties to previous factions or ambiguous positions.
We believe these observations necessitate an immediate and serious review to ensure that the elections become a step towards popular legitimacy, not a source of division or frustration.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the High Elections Committee for the People’s Assembly and relevant bodies within the transitional government to respond positively to these observations and concerns by:
- Revising the lists of electoral bodies and candidates to guarantee fair representation for revolutionaries and national figures who contributed to the revolution.
- Enhancing transparency in the organizational procedures and opening channels of dialogue with representatives of public opinion and revolutionary entities in Raqqa and elsewhere.
- Providing genuine guarantees for broader participation that includes all segments of society without exclusion, thereby strengthening confidence in the electoral process as a whole.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the success of any electoral process during the transitional phase depends on its inclusiveness and integrity, and that ignoring the voices of the revolutionaries and local communities could hinder the building of the national consensus necessary for a sustainable political transition. We believe that representing the aspirations of the Syrian people requires mechanisms that guarantee the avoidance of repeating the mistakes of the past, such as exclusion and electoral fraud.
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its call to all national and revolutionary forces for constructive dialogue to rectify any shortcomings in the transitional process and to ensure that elections serve as a tool for national unity, not division.
