The Syrian Future Movement extends its warmest congratulations and deepest appreciation to our Yazidi brothers and sisters during these blessed days as they observe the “Ezi” fast in Syria and around the world. We wish them a blessed and peaceful Eid, filled with tranquility and peace.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the “Ezi” fast, one of the holiest religious occasions for the Yazidis, is a profound expression of faith, spiritual rootedness, and connection to their land and identity.
It is an occasion for us all to reflect on the value of Syrian diversity, which has always been a source of cultural and civilizational richness, not a burden or a threat.
We in the Syrian Future Movement believe that the future of Syria can only be built on the foundations of full recognition of the rights of all its religious, ethnic, and cultural components, foremost among them the Yazidi faith, which, like others, has suffered the ravages of war, marginalization, and persecution.
On this occasion, we affirm the following:
- Constitutional and national recognition of the Yazidis as an integral component of the Syrian people, with full rights to citizenship, participation, and protection, just like all other Syrian communities, regardless of their size or location within Syria.
- Support for freedom of belief and worship, guaranteeing the practice of religious rites in an atmosphere of respect and dignity, and preventing the return of hypocrisy, oppression, and coercion to the new Syria.
- Working to return displaced Yazidis to their original areas, ensuring their dignified livelihoods, and compensating them for the harm they have suffered.
- Promoting societal awareness of the values of pluralism and tolerance, and opposing all forms of religious or cultural discrimination.
The Syrian Future Movement draws inspiration from the Yazidi fast of “Ezi,” embodying the meanings of patience and faith, and we renew our pledge that the new Syria will be a homeland that embraces everyone, excludes no one, marginalizes no one, and embraces all its children with justice and equality.
May our Yazidi brothers be well every year, and may Syria be at peace.
