Celebration of the victory of the Syrian revolution and a speech by the Religious Office

Address by the Religious Affairs Office of the Syrian Future Movement at the Central Ceremony Commemorating the First Anniversary of the Victory of the Syrian Revolution and the Fall of the Assad Regime

Praise be to God, who taught humankind what they did not know, and made guidance a light by which hearts are illuminated. Peace and blessings be upon the one sent as a mercy to all mankind, and upon his family and companions and all those who follow their guidance until the Day of Judgment.

Brothers and sisters,

We meet today on the first anniversary of victory and liberation, a great national occasion that reminds us of the value of true faith when coupled with action, and the value of spiritual values when they are transformed into civilized conduct that shapes individuals and refines society.

Throughout history, peoples of all faiths and backgrounds have realized that religion has never been a burden on life, but rather has always been a safeguard for it.

All religions, in their essence and pure teachings, came to remind humankind of the meaning of their existence, to return them to their innate nature, to regulate their actions in the universe, and to make them more just, more merciful, and more responsible.

Religion—with all its ethical and moral systems—is the force that prevents humanity from descending into inner chaos. It cultivates a living conscience within the heart, enabling individuals to distinguish between right and wrong, permissible and forbidden, and justice and injustice.

When a nation is liberated, it is not enough for the land to be freed. Rather, the individual must also be liberated from within, from anger, hatred, and revenge, in order to build their nation on a foundation of mercy, forgiveness, and respect for human dignity.

In Syria today, as we turn a new page after years of suffering, the Religious Affairs Office of the Syrian Future Movement affirms that religion—in all its diverse forms and traditions in this blessed land—will remain a unifying force, not a divisive one; a force for building, not destruction; and a source of guidance, not exclusion.

Our mission is to restore religious discourse to its higher purposes: reform, love, brotherhood, the strengthening of public morality, the rejection of extremism, and the protection of society from all forms of radicalism.

The Syrians’ belief in the justice of their cause was the primary fuel for their resilience, and their reliance on their spiritual values was the fortress that prevented their downfall.

Today—after God has granted us victory—it is our responsibility to preserve these values and make them the common ground upon which to build the future of a modern Syrian state.

My dear friends, religion is not a slogan to be raised, nor mere words to be spoken; rather, it is responsibility, action, righteousness, and a mission.

If the individual is righteous, the nation will be righteous; if souls are refined, the nation will rise; and if spiritual values are combined with political will and scientific knowledge, a just state, worthy of Syria, will be born.

We ask God to bless our steps, to inspire us with wisdom, and to make this victory the beginning of a new era in which human dignity is preserved, truth is upheld, and all religious and human components of this great nation are respected.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
