On the occasion of World Television Day, adopted by the United Nations on November 21st of each year under Resolution A/RES/51/205, the Syrian Future Movement affirms that media literacy constitutes a pillar of political transition in Syria and a key element in building a modern nation-state based on knowledge, the rule of law, and equal citizenship.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the global transformations that followed the end of the 20th century, and the shift from traditional broadcasting to the digital sphere, have made television today part of a vast communication system where narratives intertwine, sources of truth multiply, and representations of reality and discourse intersect.
From this perspective, television becomes a public space for producing meaning, shaping awareness, and rebuilding the national imagination.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that building a new television media requires moving beyond the propaganda model that has prevailed for decades and transitioning to an open, participatory media system that allows for a plurality of voices, celebrates diversity, is based on professionalism and transparency, and is subject to a fair and independent legislative environment.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the importance of television in reshaping a unified national narrative, presenting a modern Syrian story that transcends division, heals the wounds of war, and contributes to strengthening trust between citizens and the nascent state institutions.
The Syrian Future Movement believes it is essential to integrate television into cross-platform communication structures, reflecting the new communicative reality in which citizens participate as producers of information, not merely recipients, thus enabling greater interaction, accountability, and openness.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms the urgent need to enhance media literacy among the public, develop critical thinking and verification skills, and counter misinformation, thereby fortifying society and strengthening citizen participation in oversight and public accountability.
The Syrian Future Movement views local media as a pillar of service-oriented and national decentralization, a tool for connecting society with transitional institutions, and a means for empowering the provinces to tell their stories and highlight their needs.
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates that rebuilding the media field, especially television, is a foundational step in the project of the new Syrian state, a state that transcends the narrative of unilateral power, celebrates pluralism, and believes that truth is built through dialogue, not imposition, and through knowledge, not propaganda.
