Statement of condolences and sympathy for the drowning of our Syrian people at sea

The Syrian Future Movement: We offer our condolences to our families who drowned at sea last week off the Algerian coast, en route to Spain, most of whom were Kurds. We also offer our condolences to those who died a few days ago off the Greek coast, en route from the Libyan coast, most of whom were from Daraa Governorate.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that we, in the Syrian opposition, are the guardians of these displaced migrants, whom we consider martyrs of a regime of injustice, oppression, and tyranny, and of all the regimes that failed to respect their human rights, forcing them to embark on this journey of certain death.

The Syrian Future Movement:
We believe that the Assad regime, first, the international community’s treatment of it, and the negative role of the Arab League, were a direct cause of the loss of every Syrian on these journeys of death by land and sea.

The Syrian Future Movement: We believe that Bashar al-Assad, entrenched behind his repressive security leadership, will not be the key to a quick solution to the suffering of our Syrian people at home and abroad, but rather an additional cause of suffering that has continued for decades and continues to this day.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that Daraa, which the Arabs pushed to reconcile with Assad, is today losing the prime of its youth, those who fled his brutality and tyranny, and the fear of his detention centers and prisons. Likewise, our Kurdish people, who did not enjoy a comfortable life under both Assad and his son, were forced to emigrate in search of a better future for themselves and their children.

The Syrian Future Movement does not consider the number of dead, nor does it care about counting them. Every soul that has died is our family, and their affliction is our affliction. The tragedy is the same for those we have lost, and for those of us who remain alive, awaiting an unknown fate.

May God comfort them, have mercy on them, and grant them Paradise. Our sincere condolences go out to our people everywhere.
