Teachers’ protests in the northern Aleppo countryside

The Syrian Future Movement is following with deep concern and strong condemnation the marginalization of teachers in the northern Aleppo countryside and the denial of their financial and administrative rights, despite the enormous sacrifices they have made for the sake of the freedom of the homeland and the dignity of the Syrian people.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the protests that began on Wednesday, September 3, express the real pain experienced by thousands of teachers, who have been and continue to be the cornerstone of a free Syrian society. We, in the Syrian Future Movement, declare our full solidarity with their just demands and emphasize that redressing their rights is not a favor from anyone, but rather a national, moral, and revolutionary duty.

The Syrian Future Movement fully supports teachers’ demands for the payment of their salaries and job tenure, and for the rehabilitation of those who were dismissed or excluded due to their patriotic stances. We also reject any discrimination or marginalization against teaching staff, and we believe that the continuation of this situation threatens the future of education.

We, in the Syrian Future Movement, propose the following:

  1. Issuing a comprehensive administrative decree by relevant government authorities that ensures justice for all dismissed teachers and guarantees their continued employment without prohibitive conditions.
  2. Learn from the experiences of post-conflict countries such as Rwanda and Kosovo, where dismissed teachers were integrated into education reconstruction programs and provided with incentives to contribute to national reconciliation.
  3. Launching a transparent electronic platform to document teachers’ data and prioritize employment and support based on years of service and qualifications, ensuring fairness and transparency.
  4. Forming an independent committee of teachers themselves to monitor the implementation of demands and communicate with official bodies to ensure that rights are not circumvented.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on the Ministry of Education to open direct dialogue channels with teachers’ representatives and listen to their demands without procrastination or delay. Teachers are the bearers of a national and humanitarian message and must not be left to face neglect and loss.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the future of a free Syria begins with schools, with respect for teachers, and with building a fair and transparent education system.

We, in the Syrian Future Movement, will remain a voice supporting all those who take up the pen in the face of injustice, and all those who sow awareness in the land of freedom.
Together toward free education, generous teachers, and a homeland that deserves the best.
