In light of the Syrian Ministry of Transport’s announcement of a plan to develop the freight transport sector on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, which includes the introduction of digital technologies and the activation of partnerships with the private sector, the Syrian Future Movement believes that this step, despite its importance, can only bear fruit within a comprehensive national vision that promotes good governance, ensures sectoral justice, and activates community participation.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that developing the freight transport sector is not merely a technical issue, but rather a true test of the state’s ability to build effective, transparent, and interconnected institutions. Transportation is a direct reflection of administrative efficiency, fair distribution, and effective oversight.
The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the introduction of electronic platforms and tracking systems, but we emphasize that digitization must be a tool for transparency, not a cover for it. What is required is an independent national information infrastructure, managed according to governance standards and accessible to community and institutional oversight.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that private sector engagement must occur within a clear legal framework that ensures competitiveness, prevents monopoly, and respects social justice. Professional federations, unions, and civil society must also play a real role in policy formulation and monitoring implementation.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the need for the plan to include all governorates, including liberated and marginalized areas, and to take into account their economic and social specificities, ensuring equal opportunities and strengthening national unity.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the Syrian government and independent national forces to open an institutional dialogue on transportation and logistics priorities, with the participation of experts and representatives from the private sector and civil society, with the aim of formulating sustainable and fair policies that take into account the supreme national interest.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that developing the transportation sector must be part of an integrated national vision for rebuilding Syria, based on good governance, sustainable development, and community participation. We stand ready to serve any sincere national effort that seeks to achieve this.
