Inviting the Ministry of Justice to receive complaints from the judges of the Terrorist Court

In a move that carries a confession late for judicial crimes committed against thousands of Syrians, the Syrian Ministry of Justice announced on Sunday, August 10, 2025, opening the door for complaints before those affected by the practices of the Terrorist Cases Court.

The Syrian Future Movement, as it welcomes any action that restores the victims and puts an end to impunity, confirms that justice is not regained by an orphan statement, but rather a comprehensive reform system that redefines the judiciary as an independent institution, not as a political repression tool. Since its inception, terrorism has witnessed the violation of basic rights, the executive authority overlooks the judiciary, and to perpetuate the culture of fear instead of the rule of law.
And the opening of complaints today, despite its symbolic importance, does not exempt the responsible authorities from the duty to activate the Transitional Justice Authority.

The Syrian Future Movement criticizes the delay in forming a transitional justice team, as according to the text of its decision to create, which stipulates within 30 days from the date of May 17, 2025 AD, and this is considered a dangerous default.

The Syrian Future Movement links the Ministry of Justice’s call to the principles of the transitional justice charter, which we shared our vision on a study published through our official website entitled: “The Transitional Justice Authority, the necessity of the stage” which states that justice is not just an individual accountability, but rather a comprehensive societal process aimed at:

Reveal the full truth without selectivity or forgery.

Official recognition of violations, and documenting them within a comprehensive national memory.

The material and moral damage of the victims, and the ensuring that the violations are not repeated.

Reforming judicial and security institutions, and immunizing them from politicization and corruption.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for the formation of an independent committee, which includes human rights and representatives of civil society, to follow up on these complaints, and to ensure that they are not converted into a formal procedure.
We also demand the publication of the results of the investigations with transparency, and to provide guarantees that these practices are not repeated under any name.

Justice is not a deferred luxury, but rather the cornerstone of any comprehensive national project.
Without it, it is not possible to talk about reconciliation, nor about a future.
