Reactivating trade between Busra al-Sham and Sweida

The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the decision to reactivate trade between Busra al-Sham and As-Suwayda Governorate. This decision comes amid a stifling humanitarian crisis experienced by our people in As-Suwayda due to the cessation of supplies and the deterioration of livelihoods. This comes at a time when we all must stand united in the face of suffering.

The return of trucks, food, medical aid, and fuel, despite the security challenges, is a ray of hope and a realistic indication that local will is stronger than the barriers of fear, and that there are still those among the Syrian people who cling to lifelines instead of the logic of estrangement.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the humanitarian tragedy in As-Suwayda, and what preceded it in other Syrian regions, should not be read merely as relief figures, but rather as a call to launch a genuine national reconciliation process that goes beyond superficial settlements and aims to rebuild trust among Syrians, based on mutual respect and justice.

Therefore, we call for a comprehensive national dialogue, in which political, social, and societal forces participate without exclusion. This dialogue will lead to the formulation of a new social contract that places the interests of citizens above the agendas of political powers and restores the state’s prestige as an institution, not a tool.

In light of the current situation, the Syrian Future Movement proposes the following initiatives to achieve constructive change:

  • Launching a national reconciliation charter, committed to recognizing shared pain and rejecting hate speech.
  • Forming local community economic committees to oversee trade and relief between regions, thus strengthening horizontal trust among communities.
  • Neutral media platforms that give voice to citizens and keep livelihood issues a top priority.
  • Youth programs to connect different regions through volunteer work, cultural exchange, and vocational training, to form the nucleus of a generation united by love of the homeland and service to it.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on us all to turn toward a Syria that re-embraces its people, from Sweida to Busra, from Aleppo to Deir ez-Zor, from Hasakah to Damascus, where the pain of Syrians extends across the map of the heart.

We believe that the solution begins when Syrians see their brothers and sisters as partners in destiny, not adversaries in battle. Let us make this economic event the beginning of a comprehensive national project that restores the dignity of citizens and gives Syria the opportunity to become a homeland, not an arena of conflict.t
