The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the announcement by the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco to reopen its embassy in Damascus on July 10, 2025, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This step expresses a genuine desire to restore fraternal relations between the two peoples and consolidate joint Arab cooperation.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that this initiative comes at a pivotal moment in Syria’s history, as the curtain has fallen on the tyrannical regime and our people have begun to build a new state based on the constitution, justice, and participatory national institutions.
In this sense, any diplomatic openness should be viewed as support for the democratic transition process, not as an acknowledgment of past political and institutional deviations.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms the following:
- The return of Arab diplomatic representation to Damascus only gains legitimacy if it is linked to the new Syrian national project, which places citizens at the center of politics and believes in pluralism and the peaceful transfer of power.
- We appreciate Morocco’s supportive stance toward Syria’s unity and stability, and we call on it to accompany the transitional phase by supporting institution-building initiatives, empowering civil society, and enhancing cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries.
- We call on our Arab brothers to formulate a new collective policy toward Syria, based on supporting change, protecting rights, and accompanying the reconstruction process on the foundations of participatory and historical justice.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the presence of diplomatic missions in Damascus should complement the process of recognizing the new Syria and express an Arab political will to support the rise of a state of law and institutions, without ignoring the suffering and aspirations of Syrians, for which they have sacrificed.
The Syrian Future Movement renews its call for a frank and responsible Arab-Syrian dialogue that restores Syria’s natural position within its Arab environment and establishes balanced relations based on mutual interests and respect for the popular will.
