The Syrian Future Movement sees the elections that took place yesterday, Sunday, 2025-05-25, to select the representatives of the Syrian community in Paris as an advanced step in organizing the communal work of Syrians in the diaspora. We view this process as reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of political and social representation, which strengthens the presence of the Syrian community in the French civic scene and gives it a greater opportunity to actively contribute to the host society.
The Syrian Future Movement considers the upcoming meeting of the elected local councils on 2025-06-15 to elect the Board of Directors of the Syrian community in France as an important milestone to strengthen coordination among Syrians and unify their efforts toward achieving their common interests. We see this electoral experience as a necessary step to consolidate the culture of political participation, which enhances the independence of the Syrian communities and provides them with powerful tools to defend their rights and ensure fair representation.
The Syrian Future Movement calls for the generalization of this experience in countries with large Syrian communities, so that elected councils representing the voice of the communities and reflecting their real needs are formed. Building organized and legitimate entities helps protect Syrians from marginalization and strengthens their negotiating capabilities in the host communities. This requires a collective effort to establish this mechanism on a wider scale.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that free and fair elections are the best way to unify the efforts of Syrians in the diaspora, to serve their interests and strengthen their status. We call for these elected councils to be a bridge between Syrians and host communities, working to improve their economic and social conditions through cooperation with local and international institutions, away from any political or sectarian polarization.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that these steps come as part of a broader vision to build a more organized and stable future for Syrians in the diaspora. Therefore, we call for this electoral experience witnessed in Paris to be a starting point toward a democratic model that strengthens the unity of Syrians and supports their right to active participation in their new communities.
