The Syrian Future Movement joins the world in celebrating the International Day of Happiness, established by the United Nations General Assembly on March 20 of each year, affirming that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development and global peace.
The Syrian Future Movement, amid the exceptional circumstances that Syria has endured and continues to face after more than a decade of devastating war and its consequences, affirms that building happiness is no longer a luxury but an urgent national necessity to end suffering and restore hope for millions of Syrians.
The Syrian Future Movement recognizes that the war has left catastrophic humanitarian, economic, and social impacts, destroying infrastructure, distorting the social fabric, and depriving generations of the basic means of a dignified life. As we work toward reconstruction, we believe that establishing happiness requires strategic steps that go beyond rebuilding structures to include restoring individuals and renewing their trust in the future of their homeland.
The Syrian Future Movement calls for integrating the concept of happiness into national policies by adopting strategies that promote social justice, guarantee fundamental rights in health, education, and decent work, and rehabilitate the psychological well-being of society through comprehensive psychological and social support programs.
The Syrian Future Movement strives, along with all Syrian forces, to strengthen national reconciliation as an entry point to building internal peace through community dialogues that address past wounds, rebuild trust among the Syrian people, and are based on principles of transitional accountability and social justice.
The Syrian Future Movement calls for stimulating a productive economy by establishing development projects that reduce unemployment, support entrepreneurship and small businesses, and combat corruption—thus restoring dignity to Syrian families and reviving their role in the cycle of development.
The Syrian Future Movement believes in the necessity of strengthening international partnerships to support sustainable reconstruction programs, focusing on projects that enhance social cohesion and rehabilitate public services such as water, electricity, and healthcare—key pillars for restoring both moral and material stability.
The Syrian Future Movement urges the international community, particularly nations and organizations that support peace, to assist in adopting a comprehensive vision that focuses on “rebuilding the Syrian individual” before reconstructing infrastructure and providing the necessary support to empower Syrians to lead their own recovery process. Happiness is not a gift granted but a right built through collective will, justice, and freedom.
