On the anniversary of the martyrdom of leader Kamal Jumblatt

The Syrian Future Movement considers the anniversary of the martyrdom of Kamal Jumblatt a beacon that illuminates the path of shared struggle between our Syrian and Lebanese peoples, reaffirming the unity of destiny and purpose in confronting the totalitarian regimes that sought to divide the region and humiliate its peoples.

The Syrian Future Movement sees our Syrian national project—founded on the fall of the defunct Assad regime and the establishment of a state based on citizenship and democracy—as fundamentally aligned with Jumblatt’s vision, which championed freedom, human rights, and the preservation of diversity within national unity.

The Syrian Future Movement regards the assassination of Kamal Jumblatt as a purely political crime committed against a leader who believed that liberating both land and people were two sides of the same coin. Today, more than four decades later, the Syrian people carry the torch of historical justice for this martyrdom through their great revolution, which has stripped the murderous regime of its legitimacy and will continue its path until the full establishment of a new Syrian state—declaring the victory of the will to live over the culture of death embodied by the defunct Assad regime.

The Syrian Future Movement sees Jumblatt’s project, with its sharp foresight into the threats of sectarian fragmentation and foreign interventions in Lebanon, as a shield protecting the country’s sovereignty and a model to be followed in post-Assad Syria. Just as Jumblatt warned against the dangers of fragmentation, we affirm that the future of a new Syria will be led by its patriotic sons and daughters, who reject any scheme to divide their homeland and lay the foundations for a state of justice that guarantees the rights of all its components.

The Syrian Future Movement, in this context, recognizes the crucial role of leader Walid Jumblatt (Walid Beyk) in strengthening Lebanese national unity. This calls for strategic cooperation with national forces in Lebanon to ensure Syria’s smooth transition to a strong modern state after Assad’s fall—without a political vacuum that could threaten the region with division. Just as Kamal Jumblatt safeguarded Lebanon’s cohesion, we see Walid Beyk as a key partner in preserving Syria’s unity and enhancing integration between the two countries in facing shared challenges.
