On this day in 2013: A demonstration took place in the Rukn al-Din neighborhood of Damascus, with women participating and raising a banner that read, “March 15—a day history will never forget… the era of victory began on this day,” and “Opportunists exploiting the revolution are a malignant tumor that must be removed before it spreads.” Protesters chanted, “Syrians raise their hands—We don’t want Bashar,” and “The regime’s job is to destroy Damascus.” Meanwhile, the Industrial District witnessed a security crackdown, with arrests targeting passersby and assaults on civilians.
