The Syrian Future Movement condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the solidarity rally organized by dozens of supporters of the individual known as Hikmat al-Hijri on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Al-Karama Square in the city of As-Suwayda. The event was held under the pretext of “solidarity with Israel” on the anniversary of the October 7th attack.
The Syrian Future Movement regards this rally as a national and historical crime, a blatant betrayal of the martyrs’ blood, and an act that places the fate of the Druze community in the hands of a criminal entity proven to have committed genocide against the Palestinian people.
The Syrian Future Movement notes that this rally was the culmination of a subversive path led by Al-Hijri and his supporters over the past months. This path has manifested in the raising of Israeli flags and images of the occupation’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in As-Suwayda; Al-Hijri’s explicit declaration that the Druze are “an integral part of the State of Israel” and that Israel is the “sole guarantor and authorized party in any future agreement”; and his call for an “independent Druze entity supported by Israel.”
Furthermore, the Syrian Future Movement considers these statements and actions to represent a dangerous deviation from the Syrian national consensus and asserts that they in no way reflect the true stance of the honorable Druze community. The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the participants in this rally number only in the dozens and do not, in any way, represent the people of As-Suwayda Governorate or the Druze community at large—a community that has historically remained an integral part of the Syrian national fabric and has made immense sacrifices for the sake of Syria’s unity and Arab identity.
The Syrian Future Movement notes that patriotic stances have emerged from within As-Suwayda itself, rejecting these actions and affirming that they “represent only the participants and do not reflect the general position of the governorate’s residents or the Druze community as a whole.”
The Syrian Future Movement considers the resounding silence of the overwhelming majority of As-Suwayda’s residents regarding this rally to be a tacit rejection of it, demonstrating that this isolated faction finds no genuine popular resonance.
The Syrian Future Movement points out that Israeli support for Al-Hajari is not merely a suspicion but a documented fact, revealed by The Washington Post in an investigation published on December 23, 2025. The report indicated that Israel provided military and financial support to Al-Hajari’s “National Guard” militia, including the covert airdropping—via helicopter—of 500 rifles, ammunition, and bulletproof vests, alongside monthly cash payments ranging from $100 to $200 to approximately 3,000 members of these outlaw gangs. The Syrian Future Movement maintains that every dirham paid to this militia represents Palestinian blood; every rifle handed to it is a bullet fired into the heart of the Arab cause; and any support provided to it constitutes direct complicity in Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Syrian Future Movement points out that the entity—whose leaders are displayed in solidarity by Al-Hajari and his supporters—is the very same entity that the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory (established by the UN Human Rights Council) concluded, in its June 2026 report, had “committed genocide against the Palestinian group in the Gaza Strip.” The report further noted that Israeli military operations were conducted “on a large and systematic scale, resulting in unprecedented deaths, injuries, and psychological trauma among Palestinian children.”
The Syrian Future Movement asks: How can any human being—let alone a sheikh claiming to represent a venerable community—stand in solidarity with an entity that has killed over 20,000 Palestinian children and injured another 44,000 in the span of two years, committing against them the most heinous crimes documented by the entire world?
The Syrian Future Movement considers this solidarity not merely a betrayal of the Palestinian cause, but an explicit declaration of siding with criminals against victims, and with executioners against martyrs.
In this context, the Syrian Future Movement reiterates its steadfast positions—published on its official website—affirming the unity of Syria and the fact that members of the Druze community are an integral part of the Syrian people; it further asserts that any attempt to drag them into the embrace of the occupation constitutes an act of national treason. The Syrian Future Movement refers to its statement titled “Submission of the Final Report on the Events in Al-Suwayda,” dated March 18, 2026, in which it commended the documentation effort that recorded 1,760 deaths and 2,188 injuries. It called for “transforming this documentation into a unified national database” and “establishing a fair compensation fund for the victims.”
The Syrian Future Movement also recalls its statement titled “Declaration of Jabal al-Arab as a National Step Toward Building the New Syrian State,” dated November 15, 2025. In that statement, it welcomed the initiative by intellectuals and activists in Al-Suwayda, regarding it as an “inclusive national step” that affirms Syria’s unity and rejects separatism.
The Syrian Future Movement maintains that these national stances—expressed by the honorable people of Al-Suwayda—represent the true position of the community. They stand in contrast to the actions of the few dozen individuals who have tethered their fate to Israel and raised images of the architects of genocide in a square that has always been, and remains, a symbol of national dignity.
Acting upon its national responsibility, the Syrian Future Movement makes the following recommendations:
First: A complete national disavowal of this group and of anyone who raises the banners of occupation. We call upon all members of the honorable Druze community and all Syrian patriots to publicly and explicitly disavow this small faction, to declare that its actions represent only those involved, and to reject any attempt to hold the Druze community responsible for their treason.
Secondly: We call upon the transitional government and the competent judicial authorities to launch an urgent investigation into anyone involved in collaborating with the occupation, raising its flags, or promoting separatist agendas; to hold them accountable under the law; and to bring them to justice, regardless of the passage of time.
Thirdly: Strengthening national awareness in As-Suwayda and Druze regions; we call for the launch of a comprehensive national campaign—in cooperation with community notables and national leaders—to raise awareness regarding the dangers of subservience to foreign powers, clarify the true nature of the Israeli agenda, and highlight the Druze people’s history of struggle in defense of Syria and……its soil.
Fourth: Supporting the steadfastness of the people of As-Suwayda who reject the occupation and resist attempts to drag them into its embrace; providing them with necessary protection; and backing their patriotic voice—which rejects subservience and betrayal—regardless of their specific political leanings.
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its strong condemnation of the “shameful rally” in As-Suwayda. It affirms that the blood of martyrs in Palestine and Syria will not have been shed in vain, and that anyone who bets on the occupation will find themselves in the dustbin of history.
The Syrian Future Movement maintains that the honorable Druze community—with its history of struggle and patriotic stances—is far greater than this small faction. It asserts that Syria, with all its people, will remain impervious to all attempts at partition or subjugation.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that Palestine has been and will remain the paramount cause for Arabs and Muslims, and that any normalization or solidarity with the occupying entity constitutes a betrayal of God, history, and the blood of the martyrs.
For its part, the Syrian Future Movement will continue to support everything that strengthens national unity, criticize every act of betrayal, and keep a watchful eye on anyone tempted to tamper with Syria’s destiny and the future of its people.
