Supporting the Syrian Foreign Ministry’s statement regarding the Israeli incursion

The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest and full support the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, today, Saturday, August 22, 2026, in which it condemned the targeting by an Israeli occupation forces drone of a civilian car on the Beit Jinn farm road – Beit Jinn village in the western Damascus countryside, which led to the driver being injured.

While the Syrian Future Movement welcomes this resolute national stance, it holds it responsible for supporting this approach diplomatically and in the media, with its absolute solidarity with the Syrian government in its call on the international community and the Security Council to assume their legal and moral responsibilities to stop the escalating Israeli aggression.

The Syrian Future Movement praises the government statement and stresses the danger of the Israeli escalation that targets civilians and threatens regional security.

The targeting of a civilian car in the Damascus countryside reaffirmed that the Israeli occupation policy does not only target military sites, but goes beyond that to target unarmed citizens, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

We also commend the Foreign Ministry’s description of this attack as “a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a blatant violation of international law,” and we affirm that the continuation of these repeated attacks, which the statement described as “threatening the stability of the region,” requires a firm international stance that is not satisfied with verbal condemnation.

The Syrian Future Movement holds the international community and the Security Council responsible for the failure to stop the Israeli aggression, and demands effective monitoring and punitive mechanisms.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry called on the international community and the Security Council “to assume their legal and political responsibilities, and work to stop these attacks and put an end to repeated Israeli violations.”

The Syrian Future Movement asserts that the silence of the international community and the Security Council’s failure to take deterrent measures against Israel have encouraged it to continue its violations and expand its aggression.

We also stress that what is required today are not statements of denunciation, but rather practical steps that begin by imposing sanctions on Israel, obliging it to immediately withdraw from the occupied Syrian territories, and adhere to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

The Syrian Future Movement recalls that this escalation comes at a time when Syria is facing major internal challenges, and that its slide into a war it does not want is in the interest of the enemies of its stability.

The Syrian Future Movement also reminds that the new Syria, which seeks to build its state and institutions after decades of tyranny, does not want and cannot engage in a war with Israel, and that the continued Israeli aggression aims to undermine the path of recovery and abort the chances of stability.

We stress that the Israeli escalation, which coincides with efforts to integrate institutions and Syria’s return to its Arab surroundings, is a clear attempt to obstruct this path and push the country towards further chaos.

We point out here the importance of diplomatic use of the event, especially in light of the positive development represented by the expiration of the deadline to object to the Trump administration’s decision to remove Syria from the list of states sponsoring terrorism, which strengthens Syria’s legal and political position.

Based on its national responsibility, the Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:

  1. Intensifying Syrian diplomatic action in all international forums, especially in the United Nations and the Security Council, to submit an official complaint that includes accurate legal documentation of Israeli violations, and to demand that an emergency session of the Security Council be held to take binding decisions that put an end to Israeli aggression, similar to what was stipulated in the Foreign Ministry statement.
  2. Coordination with sisterly and friendly Arab countries, to build an Arab diplomatic and media front that supports the Syrian position and forces Israel to retreat from its aggression, and to put pressure on the international community to fulfill its pledges, similar to previous Arab appeals.
  3. Launching a national media campaign to educate local and international public opinion about the danger of the Israeli escalation and its goals in undermining the stability of Syria, and to highlight the state’s position seeking peace and adhering to the right to self-defense, in a way that mobilizes popular and political support for the government’s position.
  4. Strengthening coordination with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (“UNDOF”), to enable it to play its role in documenting violations and submitting accurate reports to the Security Council, similar to the move by “UNDOF” forces to inspect the targeting site in Beit Jinn.

The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its emphasis that protecting national sovereignty and deterring Israeli aggression is a national and moral responsibility, and that the current escalation requires unprecedented diplomatic and popular mobilization.

We stress that the new Syria, which is taking its first steps towards recovery and construction, cannot allow any external force to undermine its future.

We call on the Syrian government, the Syrian people, and the international community to stand together against this aggression, to ensure that Syria remains a fully sovereign state, capable of protecting its people and stability, and building its future in peace and dignity.
