The Syrian Future Movement commends the presidential decree granting students in the Suwaida Governorate an exceptional examination session for the Basic Education and General Secondary Education certificates in all their branches. This allows students who were unable to take the exams or complete their coursework due to unforeseen circumstances to reclaim their educational right and continue their studies.
The Syrian Future Movement views this decision as a responsible and equitable step that responds to exceptional circumstances in which the students had no part and should not bear the consequences. It affirms that the Syrian people’s right to education must remain protected above all conflicts, unrest, and security and political conditions.
Our sons and daughters in the Suwaida Governorate are the sons and daughters of Syria, and their academic future is an integral part of the nation’s future. Helping them complete their exams is not a favor from anyone, but rather a shared national, moral, and educational responsibility.
Therefore, the Syrian Future Movement:
- Appreciates the presidential decree and calls for expediting all necessary implementation procedures to make it a tangible and accessible opportunity for all eligible students.
- The Ministry of Education and relevant governmental and local authorities are urged to provide suitable examination centers and ensure the necessary supplies, personnel, and logistical arrangements to guarantee that the examinations are conducted professionally, systematically, and fairly.
- All social and community organizations and institutions in and around the Suwayda Governorate are called upon to fully cooperate in facilitating this examination period and to keep the educational process free from any political, security, or social disputes.
- Anyone who can provide assistance in the areas of transportation, accommodation, services, and logistical and psychological support for students and their families is urged to do so, so that no student is prevented from exercising their right to take the exam due to material, geographical, or security circumstances.
- Educational institutions, students, and examinations must be kept completely neutral from conflicts and rivalries, and the principle that schools, universities, and examinations are national spaces that must not be used as tools for pressure or antagonism must be upheld.
- Equal opportunities must be ensured for all students in Suwayda and all other Syrian students, and all necessary measures must be taken to guarantee that the exceptional circumstances they have experienced do not negatively impact their university admission or future educational paths.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that building a new Syria begins with protecting its children and their future, and that a state that stands by its students when circumstances threaten their future is protecting its human capital and its national future.
We also call upon our people in Suwaida, with all their activities, forces, and institutions, to view this session as an opportunity for everyone to cooperate in order to ensure its success. Differences, however significant, should never find their way into a student’s seat, an exam paper, or the future of a young man or woman.
Let us all cooperate to facilitate this decision, and let us place the interests of our sons and daughters above all else, in support of our people in Suwaida, in protection of their children’s right to education and a future, and in service to the Syria that unites us all.
