The Syrian Future Movement is following with grave concern the continued Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, most recently the escalation targeting areas in southern Syria, in a renewed violation of Syrian sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that this statement is not the first on this matter, nor will it be the last as long as Israeli aggression against our homeland continues. Our position has been consistent since the Movement’s founding: rejecting all forms of occupation and aggression, and defending the unity and full sovereignty of Syrian territory, regardless of any circumstantial or political considerations.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the occupying Israeli entity remains one of the most prominent sources of instability in the region, and that its policies based on military force, violation of state sovereignty, and imposition of a fait accompli have contributed for decades to fueling conflicts, complicating peace processes, and perpetuating regional tensions.
At a time when the Syrian state is working to recover, rebuild its institutions, and restore its national fabric after years of war, these attacks add new challenges and send messages aimed at keeping the region in a cycle of instability and draining its resources. The Syrian Future Movement affirms that confronting these attacks cannot be achieved through slogans or empty rhetoric, but rather through building a strong Syrian state with well-established institutions, a professional national army, a robust economy, and balanced international relations. This will enhance the country’s ability to protect its sovereignty and defend its national interests.
The Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:
- Documenting all Israeli attacks and submitting them to the United Nations and relevant international courts and bodies, as they constitute repeated violations of international law.
- Intensifying Syrian diplomatic efforts to garner international support against the attacks on Syrian territory.
- Strengthening the state’s capabilities in protecting the southern regions within a comprehensive national strategy that preserves the country’s sovereignty and prevents any security vacuum.
- Rejecting the transformation of Syrian territory into an arena for settling regional and international scores, and working to protect independent national decision-making.
- Consolidating national unity as the first line of defense against all external threats.
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates that occupation, however long it lasts, does not acquire legitimacy, and that respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states is the foundation of regional security and stability. He also affirms that the future of the region cannot be built on policies of aggression and the imposition of force, but rather on justice, respect for international law, and the preservation of the rights of peoples.
