The Syrian Future Movement extends its warmest congratulations to the brotherly Islamic Republic of Pakistan—its leadership and people—on the occasion of its glorious Independence Day, which falls on August 14th.
This historic occasion is not only for the Pakistani people, but also represents an inspiring model for all peoples aspiring to freedom, sovereignty, and the building of societies based on institutions and justice.
We in the Syrian Future Movement, as we closely observe the requirements of the Syrian transitional phase, see in the historical experience of friendly Islamic countries like Pakistan living proof that the will of the people is capable of overcoming the complex throes of establishment and moving towards building a state of law and political pluralism. This reinforces our aspiration, within contemporary Syrian movements, to benefit from experiences in constitutional development, institutional restructuring, and the management of national and social diversity.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that celebrating Independence Day carries structural values that transcend geographical dimensions:
- The value of sovereignty and structural liberation: True independence is possessing free national decision-making power and drafting a comprehensive constitution that reflects the aspirations of society in all its components.
- Islamic and Regional Solidarity: Strengthening partnerships between emerging political forces in the Arab and Islamic world to exchange developmental and diplomatic expertise.
- The State of Institutions: Emphasizing that the long-term protection and stability of homelands are based on the separation of powers, the rule of law, and the preservation of inclusive citizenship rights for all.
Our reading of the Syrian Future Movement is based on clear strategic parameters, foremost among them the need for the exchange of expertise. Parliamentary development reports for 2026 indicate the importance of Syria’s upcoming openness to federal and administrative models adopted by major countries in the Islamic world to manage population diversity and achieve balanced local development.
In addition to education and creative exchange, Pakistani institutes and universities have hosted thousands of Syrian students and professionals over the years, opening promising future prospects for reactivating scholarships and technical cooperation to contribute to reconstruction plans and build the capacities of Syrian youth during the transitional phase.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms its unwavering principles for building a new Syria, based on resolving conflicts and pursuing diplomatic openness. Syria’s future necessitates abandoning narrow, axis-based politics and engaging with major regional and Islamic countries based on shared interests, respect for sovereignty and human rights, and building economic stability through establishing trade and industrial partnerships with emerging economies in South Asia to open new markets for Syrian products after recovery.
The Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:
- We urge Syrian political entities and civil society organizations to open channels of dialogue and direct diplomatic cooperation with parties and think tanks in major Islamic countries (such as Pakistan, Malaysia, and Turkey) to convey the true aspirations of the Syrian people.
- We call for a study of international constitutional models by inviting the legal committees tasked with drafting Syria’s future to examine constitutional models that have successfully balanced the state’s religious identity with citizenship rights and justice for all sub-communities, to serve as a foundation for drafting a permanent constitution for Syria.
- We recommend establishing future parliamentary and economic friendship committees and developing plans to establish joint business councils as soon as the transitional phase stabilizes, in order to attract investments and stimulate technological and industrial exchange.
- Focus on educational diplomacy and recommend establishing future twinning agreements between Syrian universities and their advanced international counterparts to ensure the transfer of modern knowledge and prepare a Syrian generation capable of leading the technology, management, and artificial intelligence sectors.
- Encourage the transitional government to establish positive relations with all countries in the region and the world.
