The Syrian Future Movement participated in the conference “Promoting a Culture of Human Rights and Civil Peace in Syria,” organized by the Sham Foundation for Human Rights under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Damascus. The conference included representatives from government agencies, national bodies, religious and community figures, as well as a number of human rights activists, academics, and those interested in humanitarian affairs.
On behalf of the head of the Syrian Future Movement, Dr. Zaher Badran, the following members participated in the conference:
- Jumah Muhammad Lahib – Director of the Scientific Office.
- Haidar Al-Hammadi – Director of the Grassroots Office.
- Aya Al-Abbar – Director of the Family Office.
- Nuha Al-Muhairi – Representative of the Human Rights Office.
The Movement’s representatives made impactful interventions, delivered speeches, and engaged in discussions that enriched the conference proceedings. Their contributions stemmed from the Syrian Future Movement’s vision of the importance of making a culture of human rights and civil peace an integral part of the process of building a new Syria, and not merely slogans or temporary measures.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the current stage our country is going through makes protecting human rights, consolidating citizenship, accepting others, and promoting dialogue and civil peace national imperatives directly linked to the unity of society, the stability of the state, and its future.
We also believe that building sustainable civil peace requires expanding the spaces for dialogue among political, civil, societal, and human rights forces and official institutions, and involving families, youth, intellectual and academic elites, and grassroots movements in formulating a new national culture that transcends the effects of years of war and division.
Our participation in this conference stems from our conviction that responsible political action is inseparable from human rights and societal action, and that the Syria we aspire to can only be built on the foundation of respect for human dignity, the rule of law, equal citizenship, the protection of freedoms, and the consolidation of civil peace among all Syrians.
The Syrian Future Movement extends its thanks to the Sham Foundation for Human Rights and the organizers of the conference, and to all the participants, hoping that such meetings will become permanent spaces for dialogue and joint action, and that their recommendations will be reflected in practical policies and initiatives that contribute to building a stable and just Syrian state that accommodates all its citizens.
