The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the news published on December 10, 2025, regarding the reopening of the “Comstas-Comstec” Information Technology Center in Damascus in its new form as a state-of-the-art digital center to support higher education, scientific research, and the management of digital transformation in Syrian universities.
The Future Movement views this step as a landmark achievement that reflects the commitment of the new Syria to modernizing university education, developing its infrastructure, integrating modern technologies into university administration and scientific research, and developing the capabilities of students and academic staff.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that supporting comprehensive digital transformation in universities enables the center to manage digital infrastructure, host systems and data services, and develop software. This will facilitate university services (admissions, registration, examinations, competitive selection, etc.) and make them more efficient and transparent. Furthermore, we see the necessity of strengthening scientific research and innovation with modern laboratories, a digital library, and capabilities in data analysis and artificial intelligence applications. This will open up opportunities for students and researchers to develop scientific and technological projects, thus enhancing Syria’s capabilities in the fields of knowledge and technology.
The Syrian Future Movement supports enabling institutional and administrative transformation through software solutions and technical consultations, allowing universities to modernize their administrative systems, reduce bureaucracy, and connect with citizens electronically, thus keeping pace with modern developments and increasing the effectiveness of educational institutions.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on universities, the Ministry of Higher Education, and academic bodies to:
- Initiate a strategic plan for digital transformation that includes updating curricula, expanding distance learning, and linking universities to the knowledge-based job market.
- Encourage scientific research and innovation through grants, support for student projects, the establishment of technological research centers, and investing in the center’s capabilities in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and software development.
- Ensure equitable student access to technology by providing a robust internet infrastructure, supporting students in need, and training academic staff on digital learning tools.
- Embrace regional and international cooperation, inviting international universities and institutions to participate in joint programs, exchange expertise, and support the development of Syrian universities.
- Transparency and digital governance, through the adoption of electronic registration, selection, and management systems, reduce corruption and ensure equal opportunities for citizens and students.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the reopening of the newly renovated Komstas-Komstek Center represents a beacon of hope and renewal for Syrian universities and higher education. The Movement also sees this development as a source of strength for projects aimed at building a modern state. It believes that the genuine integration of education, technology, and scientific research is the path to building a future Syria that is advanced, stable, and knowledge-based. We call upon all partners—government, universities, students, and civil society—to embrace this path with seriousness and responsibility, and to work together to realize the aspirations of the new generation and confront challenges with intelligence and creativity.
