The “Homs Wednesday” conference and its social implications

The Syrian Future Movement extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the “Homs Wednesday” conference. This event transcended being a mere financial support campaign to become a vivid expression of Syrian society’s ability to regenerate itself and regain its cohesion, despite the fragmentation and disintegration it has experienced.

What we witnessed in Homs is a clear manifestation of the social capital that remains alive in the Syrian consciousness, and of the collective desire to restore meaning and rebuild place and memory.

The conference reaffirmed the notion of the “city” as a public sphere, a space for coexistence, solidarity, and collective action.

We, in the Syrian Future Movement, see this initiative as an indicator of a promising social transformation that deserves to be replicated across all Syrian governorates, because rebuilding Syria does not begin with cement and steel, but rather with rebuilding trust, identity, and belonging.

The civilized face of Syria, demonstrated by this movement, is what we must protect and nurture in the face of all attempts to perpetuate backwardness, isolation, and isolation.

The Syria we believe in is a Syria of initiative, participation, and the ability to overcome its wounds and achieve a shared future.

Thank you to everyone who believed that Syrian society is still capable of rising up, and that hope is not a luxury, but an existential necessity.
