On this day, August 12, which the United Nations has recognized since 1999 as International Youth Day, the Syrian Future Movement pays tribute to the youth of Syria, those who carried the torch of the revolution, forged dreams of freedom, stood up to tyranny, and then returned to rebuild a homeland from the ashes of war with unwavering will.
The slogan, “Local Youth Action to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and Beyond,” aligns perfectly with the Syrian Future Movement’s vision of building a new Syria, where youth are the cornerstone of redefining national identity and consolidating the values of justice, citizenship, and human dignity.
Syrian youth, in every governorate, have proven that they are not merely victims of a conflict that has destroyed infrastructure and people, but rather leaders of change and architects of the future. Through the Movement’s projects as a youth and civil society entity, we believe that awareness is the driving force for societal transformation, and that every young Syrian is the seed of a renaissance.
The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its many positions supporting the role of youth in Syria, most notably:
- The Movement’s Podcast – Episode 10, a podcast on youth in Syria from the Movement’s perspective, in which the movement’s leader discussed in depth the psychological and social challenges facing youth, proposing practical solutions to prepare them for active participation.
- In the paper “Youth in Syria,” published on the official website, the movement called for engineering justice that guarantees equal opportunities for youth in the post-conflict phase.
- In its strategic vision for rebuilding Syria, the movement emphasized the role of youth in shaping a balanced society that integrates human and religious values and restores a unified national identity. The Syrian Future Movement, a national civil entity born from the revolution, believes that the next phase requires unifying the energies of youth and establishing local action networks linked to the global vision of sustainable development goals, without losing the specificity of the Syrian context.
The Syrian Future Movement sees Syria’s youth as leaders, not domesticated ones, and as citizens, not subordinates. Today, on this global occasion, we call on them to continue building, expanding their sphere of influence, engaging in policy formulation, and participating in national dialogues for a free, just, and prosperous Syria.
On August 12, 2025, we write this statement not only to celebrate, but to affirm that Syrian youth are not on the margins of history, but at its heart. The Syrian Future Movement will continue to embrace their aspirations, support their ideas, and accompany them on their journey to build the homeland they deserve.
