The Syrian Future Movement follows with great appreciation the demonstration organized by Syrian activists in the Kafr Sousa neighborhood of Damascus on Wednesday, July 22, 2025, in solidarity with the people of Gaza in the face of the ongoing Israeli aggression and in condemnation of the Arab and international silence regarding the massacres and violations committed against Palestinian civilians.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that this demonstration, which took place in front of the Ministry of Interior and the Egyptian Embassy, is an expression of a living conscience that still beats in the heart of Syria, despite years of oppression and tyranny. It is a reminder that the Syrian people, who have experienced siege, bombardment, and abandonment, cannot remain silent in the face of Gaza’s wounds, nor can they collude with those who close the crossings or justify genocide.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the following:
- Solidarity with Gaza is not a fleeting emotional stance, but rather an expression of unity of cause and blood, a shared rejection of tyranny and occupation, and an uncompromising moral and humanitarian commitment.
- The continued closure of the Rafah crossing to the wounded and aid places political and moral responsibility on the concerned countries, especially the Egyptian leadership, whom we call upon to adopt a responsible, humanitarian stance befitting Egypt’s history and people.
- This demonstration, despite its simplicity, restores prestige to the Syrian public sphere as a forum for free expression and reminds us that peoples never die, and that their voices will remain louder than the walls of silence.
- The aggression against Gaza, including its siege, starvation, and systematic killing, constitutes a crime of genocide and requires urgent international action, not mere formal statements of condemnation.
- The Syrian Future Movement stands with every free voice in Syria and Palestine and believes that the liberation of peoples can only be achieved by breaking both tyranny and occupation and by building a new social contract based on dignity, justice, and citizenship.
The Syrian Future Movement salutes everyone who participated in this protest. We affirm that Gaza is not alone, and that a free Syria will always stand with oppressed peoples.
