Kidnapping of the head of the Emergency Response Center in Sweida

The Syrian Future Movement condemns this act in the strongest terms and affirms our full solidarity with the Syrian Civil Defense in its demand for the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Al-Amarin and ensuring his safety and the safety of all humanitarian personnel working in conflict zones.

The attack on humanitarian workers—symbols of neutrality and compassion in the most difficult circumstances—is a blatant violation of humanitarian and ethical norms and represents a challenge to the principle of neutrality adhered to by most local actors in Sweida. We hold the armed groups in Sweida fully responsible for ensuring the safety of Al-Amarin and his companions, and we call on them to respect international humanitarian law and immediately cease any practices that endanger the lives of civilians and humanitarian personnel.

The Syrian Future Movement urges local institutions and community leaders in Sweida to play their role in pressuring for the release of the abductee and to affirm the region’s commitment to its historical traditions of protecting civilians and humanitarian work.

The Syrian Future Movement renews its call for establishing strict rules to protect humanitarian workers in Syria, within a legal and ethical framework that restores shared responsibility and protects what remains of the country’s civil fabric.
