On lowering Syrian passport fees

Syrian Future Movement Welcomes the decision issued by the Syrian Minister of Interior, Major General Anas Khattab, on June 26, 2025, to reduce the fees for granting and renewing passports for Syrians inside and outside the country, and considers it a positive step in alleviating the financial burdens on citizens, especially in light of the harsh economic conditions that Syria is going through.

Syrian Future Movement He believes that reducing the cost of issuing an immediate passport to 1,600,000 Syrian pounds inside the country and 400 US dollars for residents abroad reflects a belated response to the suffering of the Syrian people, and represents a gesture that can be built upon for further reforms in this area.

Syrian Future Movement It emphasizes that the passport is not just a travel document, but a lifeline for millions of Syrians scattered throughout the world, and should be accessible to all, without being turned into a source of financial drain or a means of discrimination. Accordingly, the movement calls for further reduction of fees, especially for residents inside Syria who live below the poverty line at a rate that is increasing day by day.

Syrian Future Movement He demands that this reduction be accompanied by expanding the powers of the Syrian passport, facilitating the procedures for obtaining it, speeding up the issuance periods, and addressing the issues of discrimination and corruption that often accompany its transactions, especially in diplomatic missions.

Syrian Future Movement He emphasizes that improving access to official documents is one of the most basic rights of citizens, and that addressing the effects of the Syrian crisis begins with human dignity, freedom of movement, and the ability to communicate with the world without bureaucratic obstacles or financial burdens beyond one’s ability.

Syrian Future Movement It calls on the concerned institutions to deal with this issue from a comprehensive national perspective, away from narrow financial calculations, and emphasizes its readiness to cooperate with all parties that seek to rebuild the relationship between the citizen and the state on the basis of dignity and justice.
