The Syrian Future Movement strongly condemns the statements made by Turkish parliamentarian Cemal Enginyurt on March 24, 2025, in which he described Syrians as “occupiers” and implicated them, along with other migrants, in an internal Turkish issue related to the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu.
The Syrian Future Movement views these remarks as not only a reflection of political irresponsibility but also a dangerous escalation of racist rhetoric that threatens Turkey’s social fabric and harms human relations between nations.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that Syrians who sought refuge in Turkey to escape war and destruction have never been involved in any internal Turkish disputes. They have been guests seeking dignity and security, and blaming them for domestic political issues is a clear injustice and distortion of facts that serves only agendas aimed at fueling hatred and division.
The Syrian Future Movement reminds that racism is not just a threat to Syrians or migrants but also a danger to Turkey itself, as it undermines the values of coexistence and tolerance upon which civilized societies are built. Escalating racist rhetoric only deepens divisions and weakens stability, a challenge that all political and social forces must firmly confront.
The Syrian Future Movement asserts that Syrians will not forget those who stood by them in their time of need and supported them through the hardest circumstances, nor will they forget those who opposed them and undermined their dignity. The Syrian people, who have endured war and displacement, deserve respect and appreciation, not insult and humiliation.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on all parties to act responsibly and refrain from inflammatory rhetoric that serves only the enemies of humanity. We also urge the promotion of coexistence and solidarity among nations and joint efforts towards a future of peace and mutual respect.
