Visit of the Emir of Qatar to Syria

The Syrian Future Movement views positively the historic visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to the Syrian Arab Republic, which took place one day after Mr. Ahmad Al-Sharaa was appointed president.

The Syrian Future Movement considers this visit—the first by a Qatari Emir since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution and the first by a state leader since the overthrow of the deposed president Bashar al-Assad on December 8—to be a testament to the depth and strength of Syrian-Qatari relations.

The Syrian Future Movement acknowledges Qatar’s active role in achieving stability and prosperity in Syria and looks forward to what serves the interests of both countries.

The Syrian Future Movement believes in the importance of benefiting from Qatar’s economic experience and the role of Qatari investors in contributing to Syria’s future economic revival.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that Qatar has significant depth within the international system, which could serve as a gateway to Syria’s stability and its proper and healthy integration into the global community.

The Syrian Future Movement extends its gratitude to the State of Qatar—its Emir, government, and people—for its past support of the Syrian revolution, its role in the current transitional phase, and its anticipated positive contributions in the future.
