Reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian wins in Iran

The Syrian Future Movement is cautiously optimistic about the victory of reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian in the Iranian presidential elections, based on his previous reformist positions and current statements about extending a hand of friendship to all.

The Syrian Future Movement hopes the new Iranian president will change Iran’s previous policies in Syria and open a public channel with the Syrian opposition for the benefit of the Syrian people.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on Iran to play a positive role in ending the conflict in Syria, moving toward a political solution, and implementing UN resolutions.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on reformist Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to take genuine reform steps in its approach to dealing with Syria and the Syrians. This will serve as a gateway to a new phase in the mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries, beginning with a complete Iranian withdrawal from Syrian territory.

The Syrian Future Movement considers Iran’s reliance on the Syrian regime to be morally and strategically damaging, and that it has now become an integral part of our people’s suffering. We hope that the vision of the new Iranian president will be different from Iran’s policies in Syria over the past years, especially those following the Syrian people’s revolution in 2011.
