In response to the second paragraph of Statement No. 9 issued by the Islamic Tawhid Party on 2013-05-16, which called for the application of Sharia law to the two Christian bishops, we suffice by reiterating what we had previously published on this matter through the Political Office statement of the Syrian Future Movement dated 2013-05-02, the Religious Office statement of the Syrian Future Movement dated 2013-05-02, and the visual guidance published in a YouTube video on 2013-05-02.

As the Islamic Tawhid Party calls for a deep reading of the Quranic verses mentioned in its statement, we also call on the party to correct the two noble verses it cited. In the first and second verses, instead of “أن,” the correct word is “إن,” and in the second verse, instead of “لقد كفروا,” the correct phrase is “لقد كفر.”

It calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the two honorable bishops and warns against the dangers of playing the card of religious or sectarian conflict under the guise of minority and majority in Syria, especially during this critical and sensitive phase.
