The Syrian Future Movement views the bombing that killed Sheikh Al-Bouti Al-Kurdi in the following points:
Politically: This is an attempt by the Syrian regime to exploit the Kurdish card in Syria, especially after:
- The appointment of a Kurdish prime minister for the Syrian opposition government.
- The liberation of most of the northern Syrian territories, which include the vast majority of our Kurdish people.
- Abdullah Öcalan’s message to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to stop military operations in Turkey.
Religiously: This is an attempt to pressure the remaining scholars inside Syria by:
- Sending a message to everyone that their lives are in the regime’s hands, even inside houses of worship.
- Isolating people from mosques (within the capital) by spreading the idea that they are no longer safe for worship.
- Gaining the regime’s trust from some people, particularly in the capital, by portraying Islamists as violent and intent on killing anyone who does not support our revolution.
The Syrian Future Movement condemns the killing—any killing—of human life.
