Agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government

The Syrian Future Movement, in light of the historic agreement reached today, January 30, 2026, between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government, expresses its profound welcome for this bold step, which represents a decisive turning point in the path toward Syrian national unity.

We also believe that this agreement, which includes an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, the integration of military and security forces, the settlement of civil and educational rights for the Kurdish component, and the safe return of displaced persons, reflects a shared will to overcome the devastating effects of the conflict that has exhausted the Syrian people. It opens wide doors toward building a democratic, civil state based on the principles of freedom, equal citizenship, and social justice.

The Syrian Future Movement bases its position on its consistent vision, published on its official website, particularly our statement entitled “Agreement to Integrate the SDF into the Syrian State,” dated January 19, 2026. This statement emphasizes the necessity of achieving national reconciliation through a comprehensive dialogue that includes all national political forces, without exclusion or discrimination, as well as our repeated calls for the formation of inclusive national dialogue committees that promote national reconciliation and protect the unity of Syrian society. We also support warnings against any tampering with the remains of past crimes, such as the mass graves in northeastern Syria, to ensure the proper implementation of transitional justice, which is fundamental to genuine reconciliation. We reject any violations of freedom of opinion and expression, as has occurred in some areas, considering them obstacles to building mutual trust.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that Syrian unity is a national project requiring concerted efforts to rebuild the country on sound foundations, where all its components—Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians, and others—live together in a cooperative framework that respects cultural and national diversity, far removed from sectarian or regional conflicts.

This ensures a future vision that transcends the current painful situation, leading to a strong and advanced Syria that plays a leading role in its Arab, Islamic, and international environment, committed to international conventions and respect for human rights, while preserving its national principles uncompromised.

The Syrian Future Movement offers the following recommendations to ensure the success of this agreement and its transformation into a tangible reality that ends the military conflict in Syria:

  1. Forming a joint monitoring committee comprising representatives from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Syrian government, and other national political forces, supported by international observers from the United Nations and mediators such as the United States and France, to oversee the implementation of the agreement’s provisions, including the individual integration of forces and withdrawal from contact points, with a clear timetable for initial completion.
  2. Strengthening transitional justice mechanisms by protecting historical crime sites, such as mass graves, and establishing independent courts to hold those responsible for violations accountable, while ensuring that these courts are not used as tools for revenge but rather as means of building trust and achieving reconciliation.
  3. Implementing economic reconstruction programs and allocating resources to rehabilitate affected areas in northeastern Syria, including joint development projects focused on agriculture, energy, and education, with the participation of local communities to ensure a fair distribution of economic opportunities.
  4. Supporting a comprehensive national dialogue by holding a national conference within three months that brings together all Syrian parties to discuss a new constitution that recognizes the cultural and linguistic rights of the Kurdish component and guarantees balanced representation in national institutions, while focusing on expelling foreign elements and jointly combating terrorism.
  5. Binding international guarantees through a call for the international community to provide financial and technical support conditional on the implementation of the agreement, with punitive mechanisms for any violations, to enhance stability and attract the investments necessary for reconstruction.

The Syrian Future Movement, born from the heart of the Syrian revolution, is committed to its role in supporting this national process, calling on the Syrian people in all their diversity to rally around this agreement as a historic opportunity to transition from a phase of conflict to an era of peace and prosperity, and to ensure that it is not violated as in the past.

For our part, we remain committed to our future vision of building a unified, free, and independent Syria, where civil peace prevails and progress is achieved for all.
