The Syrian Future Movement strongly condemns the armed attack that took place in the village of Umm Hartein in the western Homs countryside on November 15, 2025, which resulted in the death of two people and injuries to others, some of them serious, following indiscriminate gunfire inside a café (game room) by an unknown assailant.
The Syrian Future Movement considers this criminal act, which targeted innocent civilians in a public place, a blatant violation of the most basic principles of community security and civil peace, and a direct threat to national efforts aimed at restoring stability in all Syrian regions after years of lawlessness.
The Syrian Future Movement appreciates the immediate response of the Internal Security Forces, who cordoned off the site, imposed a curfew, and launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and their motives. It also welcomes the statement issued by the Ministry of Interior condemning the crime and pledging to hold those involved accountable under the law.
Based on its national responsibilities, the Syrian Future Movement calls for the following:
- Intensifying security efforts to control illegal weapons and prevent the recurrence of such incidents, and working to strengthen police and community capabilities in all rural and urban areas.
- Conducting a transparent and swift investigation, the results of which should be made public, while ensuring that perpetrators are held strictly accountable under the law, in order to strengthen trust between citizens and official institutions.
- Promoting community dialogue in religiously and socially mixed areas to prevent the exploitation of crimes to incite sectarian strife, while involving local community leaders and civil activists in formulating proactive solutions.
- Supporting local development and security awareness programs as part of a comprehensive national strategy for stability, including youth and community projects to enhance citizens’ sense of security and citizenship.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that Syria’s future depends on rejecting violence in all its forms and building a culture of peace and accountability. The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its commitment to supporting every initiative that serves the security of citizens and the unity of the nation, and offers its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.
The stability and security of Syria is a shared national responsibility, and the state’s success in protecting its citizens requires the cooperation of all parties, with adherence to the law and human rights.
