The Syrian diplomatic mission returns to Washington

The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the recent political and diplomatic developments, most notably the announcement on November 11, 2025, of the return of the Syrian diplomatic mission to the United States and the lifting of legal restrictions imposed on it. We view this step as a positive indicator of a new international opening towards Syria, reflecting the beginning of a long-awaited transitional phase.

We in the Syrian Future Movement, while welcoming this step, emphasize the following:

  1. The necessity of managing the transitional phase with wisdom and national responsibility, placing the interests of the Syrian people above all else, and establishing a state of law and institutions, far removed from exclusion or revenge.
  2. The importance of international engagement with the new Syria, which will strengthen its diplomatic presence, rebuild bridges of trust with the international community, and secure genuine support for the reconstruction and development process.
  3. Our unwavering commitment to the principles of justice, freedom, and human dignity, and to building a pluralistic democratic system that guarantees the political and civil rights of all Syrians without discrimination.
  4. Our call is for a comprehensive national dialogue that includes all political and social forces, including those that have been marginalized or excluded, in order to formulate a new social contract that reflects the aspirations of all Syrians.
  5. We affirm the unity of Syria, both its land and its people, and reject any projects of division or fragmentation, while supporting the integration of all national forces into state institutions, including a unified national army.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the fall of the despotic regime does not signify the end of the road, but rather the beginning of a long process of national reconstruction, which requires us all to unite, practice tolerance, and work diligently for a future worthy of the sacrifices made by the Syrian people.
