Signing the book “Political Parties in Syria 1924-2024”

The book “Political Parties and Movements in Syria 1924-2024” is a pioneering documentary work that captures a full century of Syrian political life, from the birth of the first party entities in the 1920s to the beginnings of the new Syrian era.

We at the Syrian Future Movement believe this book represents an extremely important historical and intellectual reference, as it not only recounts the stages and transformations, but also offers an analytical reading of the Syrian experience in political organization, the conflict of ideas between nationalist, religious, liberal, and leftist movements, and the resulting lessons that should be leveraged for the next phase.

The importance of this work comes at a very sensitive time, as Syria is experiencing the throes of establishing a modern political system after decades of party freezes and exclusion. Meanwhile, a new political parties law has yet to be issued. This makes this book essential material for decision-makers, intellectuals, and researchers, as they develop a balanced legislative vision based on historical experience, not a vacuum.

The Syrian Future Movement views this book as a bridge between the past and the future, an opportunity to restore the spirit of national participation, free from ideological isolation or foreign dependence, and a genuine prelude to a more mature, just, and diverse political era.

We also call for leveraging Syria’s partisan memory to design a new political life that expresses the will of the people, guarantees pluralism, and is based on national responsibility rather than narrow alignments.

History has proven that sound partisan awareness is the foundation of a balanced civil state, and that the absence of free political organizations was one of the most prominent causes of the collapse of trust between citizens and the authorities.

Hence, we affirm that restoring organized and transparent party activity is not an intellectual luxury, but rather a national necessity for rebuilding the modern Syrian state on the foundations of participation, accountability, and serious and fruitful national integration.

It is worth noting here that the Syrian Future Movement had an active and significant participation and a notable presence at the book signing ceremony for “Political Parties in Syria 1924-2024,” which was recently published by a group of researchers and thought leaders at the Jusoor Center for Studies, under the supervision and follow-up of Chairman of the Board of Directors, Professor Muhammad Sarmini, and the remarkable efforts of researchers Professor Riad al-Hassan and Professor Wael Alwan, among others.

Dr. Zaher Badrani, head of the Syrian Future Movement, attended the book signing ceremony on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the National Library, where he delivered an important speech.
