Hayat Tahrir al-Sham removed from UK terrorist list

The Syrian Future Movement is closely following the British decision issued on October 21, 2025, to remove Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) from the list of banned terrorist organizations. We would like to emphasize that this decision comes after a series of political transformations that Syria has witnessed since the fall of the former regime. President Ahmad al-Sharaa dissolved HTS locally and reintegrated its members into state institutions, effectively ending the group’s presence as an independent armed entity on Syrian territory.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that this decision carries important symbolic international dimensions, reflecting the changing international outlook toward former armed groups and the possibility of recognizing Syria’s internal transformations toward a stable institutional state. The movement believes that removing HTS from the terrorist list does not diminish the Syrian state’s responsibility to protect the security of citizens and pursue any extremist activity outside the framework of the legal state.

The Syrian Future Movement supports the national leadership under President Ahmad al-Sharaa, particularly the efforts to rebuild state institutions based on the rule of law and national sovereignty, as this is the bond that binds us to his leadership.

The Syrian Future Movement considers the British decision an opportunity to strengthen the international legitimacy of the new Syria and open channels for diplomatic and political cooperation with the international community to serve the country’s interests and stability.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the need for all elements formerly affiliated with the HTS to become part of the state, and that any armed activity outside state institutions will be categorically rejected by any faction prior to liberation.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for investing the current phase in development projects, strengthening national unity, and consolidating the state’s sovereignty over all its territory. It calls on all military factions to take the initiative to join the process of building the institutions of the new state, led by the SDF in northeastern Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement welcomes any international initiatives that support stability, security, and development in Syria, while emphasizing that the current phase requires comprehensive national cooperation, free from previous divisions and conflicts, to achieve the supreme interests of the Syrian people.
